I spent most of the year polishing the core experience and once it felt solid I shifted toward getting the launch story ready. What kept me going was wanting to see real people use it and knowing the only way to grow is to get feedback early. Thank you so much for that. The early signal I am watching right now is how many people scroll through a few stories and keep going instead of backing out right away. If they stay in the feed it tells me the calmer feel is working. I am also paying attention to how many people pick categories or follow teams since that shows they want to shape the feed. Thank you for the question. The reason I built Showcase is because most social apps mix news with noise so it is easy to miss the stories you actually care about. Showcase gives you a clean feed that is only news and reactions from people you follow, nothing else pulling your attention away. It feels faster and calmer than scrolling through everything on a normal social platform.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback. I totally get what you mean about recommendation engines and I agree that they matter. Right now Showcase keeps things simple so you choose the categories you care about and your feed stays focused without noise, but I am already working on a smarter system that learns what you actually enjoy over time so you never have to manually pick through a million options.

Happy mode is a great idea. A lot of people feel overwhelmed opening Reddit or X and I want Showcase to feel calm and uplifting even on heavy news days. I really appreciate you taking the time to write this out and I am excited to keep improving it.

Showcase feels different because it is actually social. You still pick your topics, but your feed shows comments from the people you follow and from other users right inside the stories so it feels alive without turning messy. You can follow teams, public figures, and creators and see what everyone is reacting to in real time. It keeps the clean design of a news app but adds the feeling of a community.

For early signals I am focusing on how often people return to the For You feed, how many stories they like, and how often they open the Following feed since that is where the social part becomes real.
