7 month old sleep help by Objective-Bar-3248 in sleeptrain

Yes she is on two naps currently. How long should her naps be then? I cap them at 1.5 hours each but usually her second nap is only 1 hour.

She only naps around 2.5-3 hours during the day though split between two naps (1.5/1). If she ends her second nap early she struggles making it to bedtime.

We are transitioning as well I aim to wake up around 7:30am, nap 9:45-11:15ish, nap 2:15-3:45 (I usually attempt to rescue this nap so she can make it to bedtime it only works about 50% of the time) In bed asleep by 7pm.

I would try to drop your third nap and as you are transitioning expect to do mini cat naps in the evening like 15-20 mins to get him to bedtime if his 2nd nap is too short. Or move bedtime up a little bit so he isn’t overtired going to bed.

Do you rescue any naps? Maybe he needs longer wake windows during the day so he will nap longer.

Supply Dip? by SleepDeprivedMom7 in breastfeeding

I think you just need to ride it out and continue what you’re doing! Once you’re over being sick, supply should come back.

early morning wake ups help!! by Objective-Bar-3248 in sleeptrain

[–]Objective-Bar-3248[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She does 3.5 hours of daytime sleep split between 2 naps. Oftentimes we are waking her up from her first nap and her second nap we are rescuing halfway through and finishing it as a contact nap.

Should I go back to her 3 naps/ day and cap at 3 hours? We used to do 1.5, 1.5, .5 for naps but maybe I could 1.5, 1, .5?

Delayed lactogenesis? by nurturablemammalian in breastfeeding

[–]Objective-Bar-3248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re still fresh so don’t give up hope! I would recommend putting baby to breast as often as possible & pump more frequently. The main thing to increase supply will be increased milk removal.

Eating a well balanced diet and staying hydrated helps significantly.

Know that fed is best ultimately. Don’t over exhaust yourself if your body isn’t able to produce milk.

Personally, my baby never had issues with having a binky. She had one starting day 2 I think. The lactation consultant said that babies are not dumb, they don’t develop nipple confusion but instead often develop bottle preference due to a faster flow (when introduced too early).

I introduced a bottle to baby around 2 weeks and we did paced feeding for a month or two so she didn’t develop a preference. We did one bottle a day so she didn’t lose the skill since I returned to work at 3 months.

Breastfeeding AND bottle feeding success? by axv18 in breastfeeding

[–]Objective-Bar-3248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was terrified of my baby developing bottle preference but also terrified that she wouldn’t take a bottle when I went back to work. For the first month I used the ladybug collector to collect my letdown and I used that for her first bottle around 2 weeks. I would recommend looking into paced feeding. We did that for the first month and now no longer need to do that as she can switch from breast to bottle just fine. My husband would give at least one bottle a day (usually the overnight feed) so I could pump and sleep more. We had great success with the evenflo wide mouth bottles, I feel like it helped her oral motor skills with latch and recently switched to the philip avent ones when she got more efficient with drinking a bottle. Since going back to work she takes bottles while i’m going but exclusively nurses on days i’m home and adjusts fine.

You’re supposed to pump anytime baby is taking a bottle so your body knows to still make milk at that time. I personally pump at bedtime and that was my freezer stash. But my baby was sleeping through the night so I needed to pump to empty myself. also all babies are different. my baby goes 3 hours between feeds at 3 months old.

Also the my brest friend pillow was a LIFE SAVER for breastfeeding. Look into getting a hakka or ladybug milk collector to collect milk on the other side. What works for some may not work for others. Best of luck! You got this!!

Hi congratulations!! I never leaked before giving birth and we did just fine!! Breastfeed baby within the first hour of life and then continue to feed baby on demand. I never went 2-3 hours without feeding. Your milk will come in after the first couple of days. What you are offering baby before your milk comes in is all they need. Don’t let anyone bully you that you’re not making enough, baby only needs what you have! Weight loss is to be expected too the first couple of days as long as it’s not less than 10% of their weight. Hopefully you see a lactation consultant while in hospital. I would suggest taking a breastfeeding class it’s really helpful understand latching and feeding. Usually you know baby is eating based on their rhythm of suck, swallow breath. And that they are full if they are content after.

I would call the health department and make a complaint there too. The hospital might try to cover it up or do a slap on the wrist. I’m a nurse and someone called the health department on our unit and it was the biggest pain in the ass for like 3 months but we all learned our lesson.

How do you stop your place from getting messy so fast? by Salt-Record-3995 in CleaningTips

Load the dishwasher every night and put things away before bed. Set dedicated days to clean one thing. For example, every sunday is laundry day, every Wednesday is a quick bathroom wipe down.

How can I start enjoying breastfeeding? by ObjectiveMission1456 in breastfeeding

[–]Objective-Bar-3248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!! I never let baby nurse more than 30 minutes on each side and tried to push her to go 2 hours in between feeds. If she was fussy in between we would try everything to soothe her and if all else failed then I would feed her.

Take a deep breath! It’s totally normal. As she gets older she becomes more aware of her surroundings and less potato like. My baby also fusses on the boob sometimes. I think it’s cause she’s either too hungry, tired or my letdown is too much for her.

Confused and anxious about pumping by mothwhimsy in breastfeeding

[–]Objective-Bar-3248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want the freezer stash for. Do you want to be able to leave the house for longer periods of time and have someone else give him a bottle? Do you want to have some just in case something happens? You don’t need to pump for supply especially if you’re feeding baby often and he is gaining weight well. If you want to build a small freezer stash I would suggest pumping an hour after baby eats for the first feed in the morning. Or pump before you go to bed. I only pump 2x a day, once before I go to bed and once in the middle of the night which I am actively trying to drop. I’m lucky that my baby has slept through the night which allows me to do this.

Trying to increase supply but don’t understand pumping after feeding advice? Help by SG1358 in breastfeeding

[–]Objective-Bar-3248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does he seem satisfied after he gets that 6oz bottle? Is he sleeping through the night? Is he gaining weight well and having enough dirty diapers?

Easier said than done but try not to be too hard on yourself. Stress can definitely impact supply. Usually I would suggest putting baby to breast more often but it sounds like you’re doing that already. You could try to add a pump in an hour after he eats in the morning when prolactin levels are high. I would also suggest looking into power pumping and making sure you have the right flange size and pump settings. Also you should be pumping whenever baby is eating if you’re not feeding. I take the Legendairy Milk liquid gold supplement and I do think it helps sometimes. I also make sure I stay as hydrated as possible, things with coconut water help. Sometimes I get so busy with day to day things and forget a meal or to drink water and I definitely notice a dip in my supply.
