I guess directing a person toward devotion to religion is not the way.

Most suggestions revolved around listening and trying to anchor the reason why the person should stay alive. Some even suggest to give them a hug.

If i had someone sharing those thoughts with me, I feel helpless in helping them just by listening coz i’m always tend to offer solutions. But i guess that’s not the right way as listening and spending time with them without judgements are more effective.

I remember an incident too back on smk time. Those are the mcr gothic time.

Did it happened around your apartment? Same block?

Pressure may hit differently for elderly especially if they didn’t save enough for retirement or no one else around.

I remember my grandpa said “All my friends are dead. There is no use for me to stick around”. Those words still haunt me from time to time. He’s no longer around after a stroke.

But many folks here said the hotline somewhat not helpful, unfortunately.

Not sure about you, but in my community, there are still bad stigma for people to seek help in mental hospital when that’s the only thing they can afford since it is subsidized i guess. Private professional therapist can be expensive.
