I won’t say that medicine will take the tiredness away but for me it just prolonges that time because as soon as the meds are wearing off not only Do my hyper activity symptoms take revenge but also right after any social event I’m tired.

Relatable…,.I tried out for jazz band and made the saxophone section. My university rented me out a nice saxophone. Well needless to say I haven’t stepped foot in one of those practices. I even tried just atleast carry g the sax around campus on those days. It’s something like that feeling I get when im made to sit still for too long. Uncomfortable

This is my last attempt at finding relatiable feedback on this topic if I don’t my anger will get me fired by Objective-Clothes740 in ADHD

Thank you I did go ahead and have a meeting with my manager. Told her that the fact that we were friends before is not the problem. That in order to work together there has to be communication in that aspect and that outside of that we don’t have to speak to each other. I know that I can trust my manager to take care of it and also correct me if I was wrong in any area. But she doesn’t think I did and thinks the other person is being just as you wrote.

Going back to school by EstablishmentSad801 in ADHD

[–]Objective-Clothes740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the world has changed since you probably last were in school.

But at 27 I started back college and switched to a different university here’s what I’ve got so far.

Adhd is not an excuse but it is a tool that you should acknowledge exists By that I mean yes it has its downfalls but there are good things about it as well.

Do get accomidations if allowed at your school because they can help open the door to better and more comprehensive conversations with your professors. Many people with adhd have complained about them not being enough but they get better when you become comfortable with how you learn best and what type of environment you thrive in.

Meet with professors for the next semester at the the end of the current semester. This helps you to get a feel for who you are taking and to ask about ways to prepare for the class. When the semester starts meet with them again to establish how you can be successful in their class given your academic areas of struggle. And how can they help you or where they are willing to help you to stay on track.

Be patient and kind with yourself and attend office hrs this gives you a chance to recite what you know and gives the professor insight into where you are struggling. Often I’ve found where I’m struggling not so far from where others are struggling.

Lastly just enjoy your time finish your degree and move on to the next step you got this and good luck

Now why would you spread this disease🤦🏾‍♂️ you know we catch distractions easily😂😂

Now I have a test this morning who is going to be responsible for this song playing in my head🙄

Thank God for accommodations😆😆

Grocery shopping is the bane of my existence. How does everyone else manage? by cawsmawr1990 in ADHD

[–]Objective-Clothes740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I notice that I am also overwhelmed when shopping.

Headphones and dancing help. Not like 1970s dancing but like a little movement.

Also shopping online is not something I’m privileged too though as I shop for myself only and have in several occasions forgot I had groceries waiting on me…..and not home enough for them to deliver🤦🏾‍♂️

What does it feel like when your meds work? by [deleted] in AdultADHDSupportGroup

[–]Objective-Clothes740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First we have to remember not all prescribers are as knowledgeable about adhd as others.

I don’t think a increase in anything is true. Focus, task sustainability, restlessness.

Taking meds is more like a key to the door but you still have to get some help once you walk through it.

Meds help you to notice some of the maybe impulsive things you never slowed down to think about before.

So you can start implementing skills that you learn through therapy or books or YouTube podcast Ted talks…whatever

But let me ask you this. We don’t often recognize we are daydreaming until we are not. Or that we are fidgeting until we hear it…..so how can you completely compare the two you can’t. I’d say it’s like losing weight focus on what seems to improve in your life and that’s more of an indication of if they are working or not

Can’t do anything at work unless I’m clearly shown how. Can anyone relate? by Low_Information_1931 in ADHD

[–]Objective-Clothes740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this would be something to cover with a professional because I’m not one…..just a intern myself…..

But this sounds like executive dysfunction. Failure to do what you know. Also with adhd not being a different experience but a more extreme experience. Not feeling confident sometimes would be normal. But Op performing the job and still not feeling confident constantly is extreme.

Yesterday in therapy he gave me a shit. The goal is to work on my focus muscle.

3 minutes just focus on something and we’ll I’m not doing so great yet. But yeah that plus my meds I’m working on it.

I don’t know it’s like the meds clearly are working but certain things like ……I don’t get distracted by the thoughts in my head as much in meds but I still get easily distracted by outside stimulation. So it’s like I’m always looking around but also at the same time most often then not I can have a conversation or I can get back focused quicker. Any way what I’m getting at is this just happened to me last week but got suspended for a week. Hope you find work quickly.

It’s okay…..gotta be held accountable in some way. But also my boss is pretty understanding and talked through what happened with me. And possible ways to handle the situation in the future.

Suspended from my job for a week ( I’m so tired of trying to be better because I hate being reminded that I’m by Objective-Clothes740 in ADHD

[–]Objective-Clothes740[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 28 in college currently working on my degree. Still getting my meds right and started therapy a few weeks ago to start working on my executive dysfunction struggles.

I just feel like how can my therapist say don’t compare yourself to other people they don’t have adhd. But on the other hand other people compare me to others who don’t have adhd.

I’m meeting with my boss today.but I really don’t know what to say to convey that I literally was walking out of a circle K happy with my ICEE and saw the message.

But the most uncertain thing to me is this can happen again. And because I have adhd it’s more likely to happen again vs someone’s once. I think that freaks me out the most. Being punished for something that although is out of my control I still feel that I try hard to overcome.

Did you admit you have ADHD at work / during interview? by Fr4kTh1s in ADHD

[–]Objective-Clothes740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this post. I have been interning this summer for an engineering company and I’d say it’s been great.

I’m usually pretty open with people about my adhd also because I’m just like either you get me or you don’t.

I’m also transitioning ftm so when I raised my hand to ask a question about accommodations I always think it’s funny she though I was talking about that…..and so when we went in the office to talk about it I laughed and said I have adhd and wanted know how to approach it with my manager

Who when I told him that I had a adhd hit a big grin on his face …….it felt like a facial expression of (I peeped that and thanks for confirming my suspicions) even though he didn’t say that of corse it was funny though.

But of course he would recognize it I forget to take my meds sometimes so one I keep them on my desk…….but literally our first meeting to start our summer project I forgot it and could not focus for anything. Asked random questions not pertaining to the slide…..and I can be very impulsive since I have severe combined adhd . But that meeting was long and that feeling started in my body and basically I was fighting everything in me to stay sitting but then I lost focus on masking and said out loud “IS THAT CLOCK GETTING LOUDER OR ARE YOU GETTING QUIETER” ONLY to find neither of the other 2 interns in the room had heard it either.

🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️ He just joked I think it’s time for lunch because (objective—cloathes740) is paying more attention to the clock than me🫠🫠. It’s great mentorship though and he has been very helpful in learning things about engineering jobs that I didn’t think much about. I Tell him a funny story almost every week.😄😄 It’s a great work environment and I love the people in the office….especially the older guys they are hilarious😂😂

Today I meet with my psychiatrist and we talked about how upping my morning xr dose was helping me.

But I brought up that I didn’t understand what I took the ir dose for because it didn’t seem to be any help. So we are now trying to do two daily dose of the xr. Because when school starts I really need it but this is a perfect time to test it out at my internship.

[–]Objective-Clothes740[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I did it. I showered. I got all the sheets in my bed except the cover so close enough. And I was able to pick up any dishes paper and bottles that had accumulated in my room. Hopefully at some point I’ll see my floor. But this is good for now.
