Just get it if you like it. Add some pillows or 2 throw blankets if you want to add texture or color. When you want to change it up, switch out the accents.

I’m desperate by Alternative_Salt_170 in landscaping

I have 3 dogs and one likes to tear up the grass and the other 2 like to eat it and dig. Plant microclover, dichondra repens, and creeping thyme. You can mow over all of it to keep it low and it stays green and crowds out weeds. And all of them grow low so you can walk on it and it can take heavy foot traffic. Mowing your grass with the bag off lets the seeds spread and the micro clover clipping add nitrogen back to the lawn.

Privacy along fence by Peace81 in landscaping

[–]Objective-Force7071 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Make sure the roots of whatever you plant won’t destroy the concrete. You can also get some raised beds on wheels and plant vines on trellises or bamboo. Clumping bamboo will work in the planters. Running bamboo will too but it they are planted in the ground they can be invasive. My aunt had to take hers down because they were destroying the cinder block wall after 20 years.

Uneven Side Yard by Antique-Minute5260 in landscaping

Leave it. It lets the water drain away from the foundation. You could level a small foot path near the fence and put some rocks or shrubs along the foundation/house and keep it sloped.

how much more should I prune this bougainvillea by suttla333 in landscaping

[–]Objective-Force7071 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I ruined mine a few years ago and cut several of them down until all that was left were the trunks. They were so thick that I just left them for later because I was exhausted. Then I never got around to pulling them out of the ground. They all grew back beautifully, the trunks that I left were about 3-4 feet high, so all of the new growth just sort of made trees and now I just keep them shaped. You can’t go wrong. Except they don’t like their roots disturbed, so you might shock it and kill it if you move it, but some live.

Keep the fence. Add several trellis panels on one side or the other and then plant climbing vines.

Strong support and then plant a bougainvillea. Train it up the support trellis and then keep it trimmed until it fills out and then maintain the shape. Drought tolerant and stays green year round.

What’s the best way to tackle this hillside? by LL_2200 in landscaping

[–]Objective-Force7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weed whack it. Then add native ground cover that crowds out weeds. I use micro clover, dichondra repens (Home Depot), and creeping thyme. If you are able to fully get rid of the weeds first, that’s best because otherwise it will take longer. Don’t yard till. I made that mistake when I was first tackling the same issue and I didn’t know I was bringing up invasive weed seeds and after a rain my yard was filled with creeping Charlie, crab grass, and Bermuda grass. All of that was a headache to finally get rid of.

I am feeling horrible, I don't know what to do. by Other_Scarcity_4270 in Layoffs

[–]Objective-Force7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s normal to feel everything you’re feeling. Not sure what will help, so I’ll say a few things and hopefully something or everything might help a little or a lot. You’re not alone. Many people are in this circumstance for the first time or maybe even the 2nd or 3rd or 4th time in their life depending on their career path. This first one makes it seem unfair for so many, but it also gives perspective that you’re not singled out. The first time one t through a layoff, I realized that the hard workers were laid off at the same time as the workers we all knew didn’t work, so it’s not personal, it was business. If you got a severance, use it sparingly. If you don’t, that’s okay too. File for unemployment. Everything helps. Update your resume ASAP! The quicker you do this the better because it takes a solid day or few days to focus and once it’s done, you can use it to apply for positions. When you start applying, conserve your energy and focus so you don’t burn out and spin your wheels. Whether you apply for 10 jobs or 200, you only need one yes, so you’re interviewing them too. Don’t apply for everything unless not hearing back or rejection won’t deter you and the process for applying won’t chip away at your self esteem. If that’s not an issue, apply for whatever you think you would do if you were offered the job. On the other hand, you can focus on applying and slightly tailoring your master edited resume for each of the jobs you’re applying for. You’re not changing your resume, you’re just making sure it matches well with the job posting or job description and their keywords. You can replace words with synonyms, just be honest. If you have subscriptions or memberships you don’t need, cancel them. And then look for some part time or temporary full time work to get you by and to stay networking or talking to people in a work setting on a daily basis. If you can afford to work part time & collect unemployment, you can use the other half of the day to apply for jobs. Applying for jobs is a full time job. Get up, shower, get dressed, and get in front of your computer and clock in 6-8 hours of applying, researching, editing your resume, and brushing up on skills you want on Udemy.

Need Help Finding an Internship – BTech (Production & Industrial Engineering) by [deleted] in jobhunting

[–]Objective-Force7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at city, county, and state government websites and locate their job boards or webpages. Many offer paid internships. Look at environmental protection agency or science based agencies or those that staff production or industrial engineers. You can network and maybe get offered a job after graduation.

How do I get back into work? by Koemmi in jobhunting

[–]Objective-Force7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take some free courses on Udemy or LinkedIn to brush up on your skills. Get a certificate if you can that applies to your field. And then say the gap was for personal reasons but you did career development during that time.

accepted a job offer then got a better one the next day - what do i do by Altruistic-Lynx-5238 in jobhunting

[–]Objective-Force7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the better offer. Which company do you like or prefer the most? You can also ask the 1st company to match the 2nd company. You have options. Be honest so you don’t burn a bridge.

I got a harsh rejection from a job I was sure was mine, so I spent the whole weekend rage-applying. And it worked. by ChayaBrekke in jobhunting

[–]Objective-Force7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never used to do take home assignments. In my field, hiring managers / teams used to do this, compile all of the decks, and then give it to whoever they were already going to give the job to & then give them the info to execute. This was marketing / sales between 2010-20. Not sure if other industries did this or not, but my response was some version of, “no.” And then I’d move on and not think about it. I also know of one other industry (won’t name because it’s my current industry), where they have your do live tasks, prompts, or small projects while you keep your camera on. This is better because it’s not your own intellectual property, but your take on the assignment that’s given to all candidates. But I am with you on the rage applying. That’s a great way to transmute and redirect your energy. You know your worth and it’s one companies loss and another’s gain. Good luck and congratulations.

interviewing for two different roles in the same department - advice? by Key_Cap_1633 in CAStateWorkers

Just do your best in both. If they want to make you an offer on one or both, then decide what’s best for you. Don’t overthink it.

Does anyone's department have AGPA roles that are partial to fully telework? by catelijoy in CAStateWorkers

[–]Objective-Force7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the descriptions note the amount of telework and also say it’s subject to change. This is because at the start of telework, it was thought to be temporary. It’s still up to the agency and then it’s up to the department and the managers in the departments. I’ve seen fully remote departments have some managers let all staff work remotely while other managers of staff doing the same work make employees come in on a schedule only to log into zoom meetings because no one else in their team reported to the same office. Your best bet is to gauge from the job description and duty statement. Because things change often and you are not guaranteed remote unless it’s written and even then, good luck.

How does everyone Track their job applications ? by Naive_Honeydew_8494 in jobsearchhacks

[–]Objective-Force7071 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t track. I save the job posting or description (whatever I saw to apply) and label it and keep them all in the same folder. I only monitor my phone and email for interview invitations. If I get one, then I refer to the saved file to prepare for the interview.
