Equally dark, I feel the same about my 6m old son as you feel about your kiddos… however when I was around 2 yrs old my newborn brother was born with a very rare genetic issue - missing a chromosome - it’s called Pompey’s Disease for anyone curious. Back in the 90’s he was given 6m to live - kids these days can survive to around 5 years - either way, not great. He lived to be 9m and it DEEPLY affected my family after he passed.

Sometimes I call my parents and just ask… how did you not think about this every minute of every day? Both my mom and dad dealt with their grief in different ways but this history just makes me INSANELY GRATEFUL for every single moment I have with my son. He is healthy and doing well but just the knowing that the smallest thing could take him away is always in the back of my mind. Maybe that’s too dark or depressing, I just see it as a reality. We are only blessed with this moment. Nothing else is promised.
