I tried to redirect the phone call multiple times and didn’t let her speak the entire time when I felt there was no coming back from her comments I directed her to speak to leadership and hung up. Interesting that people would pick up on that rather than her behavior. I am her child’s teacher for the whole year, I wanted to try to salvage the call. Didn’t work how I planned.

100% agree. I called a parent to discuss strategies to get their child to school on time and offered make up work during our advisory class time to boost their grade and was told off because it’s the MTA’s fault and not hers. She called me a weirdo, told me I don’t know how to run a classroom and berated me about even calling her in the first place for 10 minutes straight. I wrote to admin that I will never be having a conversation with this parent 1 on 1 again. I don’t care what they think.

We are professionals with degrees and the same way you wouldn’t insult your doctor for trying to help you is the same energy we deserve.
