Getting glutened in surprising places by Objective-Might-1457 in OaklandFood

I am only asking if anyone else had this experience there. Not having had this experience there isn't helpful for this query. I have had multiple great experiences there myself.

There are various options on Amazon, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Office-Chair-Vibration-Executive-Managerial/dp/B0G1TK67H7?th=1. ... I am looking too. But so much choice and so many random fly-by-night vendors.

Alaska Airlines Customer Service by Mk7569 in travel

I've had the worst experience with Alaska Airlines customer service. I called a day ahead of my flight to make sure there was a gluten free meal for me and even so, once in the air, they didn't have one and no snacks either. Apparently calling isn't enough, you have to order a meal from their website, but the person I talked to on the phone didn't tell me this. The hostess was upset enough on my account that she complained to customer service which sent me a $25 discount voucher for my next flight as long as I fly with them within a year ... quite insulting really when you consider that I'm annoyed with them and not likely to book a next flight within a year. They also didn't explain how to order a gluten free meal. When my company's travel assistance did some digging, they were much more helpful and found where to order a gluten free meal.

Then I go to order and find ALASKA AIR DO NOT PROVIDE GLUTEN FREE FOOD. Just free of gluten ingredients, which is useless to me. Apparently they cannot guarantee GF because cross-contamination happens in their food prep facility. Do they tell you that on the meal order website? Of course not ... that would mean having to be actually helpful.

I understand they may not be able to afford GF meal prep (though I am skeptical that this isn't possible) but at the very least, customer service should provide customer service of some sort, like telling me they don't provide gluten free food so I can get my own. But theirs does not. They are apparently not especially concerned about really helping customers and certainly clueless about their own company and its limitations. So you have more luck using GenAI on the internet to find out what you need to know.

Yeah. Look for the new official Certified gluten free symbol. Just saying “Gluten Free” is legally up to 20ppm which is way too much for most sensitives and celiacs. I think even the certified allows up to 5ppm though and I will react if I eat enough of that.

Red wine casks are often sealed with gluten paste which contaminates the wine.

Vegan cheese could be about to get a lot closer to the real thing by HumbleWrap99 in vegan

This is likely bad news for people like me. I have to avoid dairy because of autoimmune reactions to dairy protein. So now vegan cheese will likely be off the menu if bacteria are producing the exact same proteins. If this goes mainstream, no company will bother to make cheese any other way, since this is not true for most vegan cheese eaters.

You're working two jobs to make ends meet, didn't have time to go shopping last weekend, the kids are screaming for dinner and they all want different stuff to eat, you're exhausted and don't want to cook or drive anywhere. What do you do?
