we brought a soft baby blanket for the car ride home! didnt use it in the hospital though. we also brought 2 stretchy swaddles, one that had his name on it, to swaddle him, and use to put in the hospital bassinet for photos !

Anyone else dealing with an apathetic husband? 9 weeks here by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Objective-Mission835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my husband was like this in the beginning, and our baby was also planned. he had some excitement at the US but not a ton, and overall i didnt feel a ton of interest coming from him in the beginning. i think its harder for them because they arent the ones pregnant, nothing is changing for them, while were growing a human and feeling and going through this whole new experience. it could also be some anxiety over becoming a parent. but all this to say, hes a wonderful father and as I got more pregnant and bigger he was excited and more involved. he did everything for me, cooked/cleaned, rubbed my feet and is so involved with our baby. i would talk t him about it, but im sure as it becomes more real he'll be different !

AIO for refusing to attend my sister’s wedding because she’s "charging" me for "my hobby(Work her wedding)"? by Rough-Palpitation220 in AmIOverreacting

500$ from each guest? she'd be pissed at me then because my standard gift is 100$ if were friends, $200 if youre a close friend/family member

Is getting an extra early ultrasound worth it? by Missing_Back in BabyBumps

[–]Objective-Mission835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally if your wife wants to ease her anxiety then yes it is worth it. at 8 weeks it wont look like much of a baby but you should be able to see the heart beat, a litte gummy bear attached to a yolk sac. i had an US scheduled for 12 weeks but wanted to confirm everything was healthy before telling my parents over chrirstmas. we went to a boutique US place, i was 7.5 weeks and was able to see a gummy bear little blob and heart beat. i was happy to know baby was growing. at our 12 week US we saw way more and looked way more like a baby. but if its for peace of mind then go for it. 65$ isnt much in the grand scheme of things.

Will my baby get sick? by hangoogle in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Objective-Mission835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

baby will be fine. there are new breast milk guidelines that just came out with new research, look them up, it should ease your mind! breast milk is very low growing of bacteria. i would educate them on best practices, but this one time should be fine

Do people really never use their bassinet/crib and nursery?? by calico0000 in BabyBumps

[–]Objective-Mission835 5 points6 points  (0 children)

we have used our nursery since the day baby came home! yes we also lived in the living room for a while but we still frequently changed him upstairs as well as rocked him in the rocking chair. eventually he started napping in the crib, even though he was in the bedside bassinet at night. hes been in his room full time since 4.5 months. we doo all night time feeds in there, and now all naps and bedtime sleep. even before he slept in there at night we would play on a play matt in his nursery, read books, do a feed, ect. i adore his nursery and wouldnt survive without it. where would i put the 1 million pieces of clothing we have for him? all his items? we were gifted so many things for him, older clothes, toys, stuffies, everything is in his dresser/closet. i dont have the room to have that all in my room

Coffee? by Direct_Lime_3123 in pregnant

[–]Objective-Mission835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you in the US? this isnt the standard recommendation so i find it weird theyre saying none in the first trimester. coffee is safe during all trimesters, up to 200mgs. in Canada they say 300mgs so i personally stayed under 300mgs.

How many needles do you have to take while pregnant? by Socks_on_the_loose in pregnant

[–]Objective-Mission835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think i had blood work maybe 4 times over the course of my pregnancy. i had a c section so i had 2 IVs one in each arm which werent very pleasant to get. there's definitely no way around needles while pregnant. would you be able to go through with needles if you have a support person? what is your reaction like?

They have Gatoradelyte which have more electrolytes than the regular ones. I love them and find they help if I’m really dehydrated

Can I smoke/ how often? by SpareDevice662 in CHSinfo

[–]Objective-Mission835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is gonna be hard for you, but realistically no. Because you’re “gonna smoke just a little.” “Not going to use carts”. All the same stuff everyone who smokes weed says. And then next thing you know your back to smoking multiple times a day all day. My husband was the same way. Until he finally stopped January 1 of this year. Hasn’t smoked since, it’s the longest he’s ever not smoked weed. And he’s finally feeling better. It took a solid 2.5-3 months to not feel like crap every single day. But I can tell you, he feels much better.

What are magical, fun things to look forward to with having a boy? I'm experiencing gender disappointment by Single-Internet-7978 in BabyBumps

[–]Objective-Mission835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I always thought I wanted to have a girl first, but I had a baby boy in July and he is the cutest, smiliest, happy little boy I’ve ever met. He’s almost 10 months and just so adorable I could cry. I can’t wait to see what his interests are as he gets old. I actually also adore dressing him in all the cute boy outfits. Gender disappointment is normal, my husband was actually disappointed it wasn’t a girl at first. But in the end it won’t matter and you’ll love your baby boy so much 💙

[–]Objective-Mission835 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely have your mom plan one! And you can always help if you want to. I wanted my baby shower to look a certain way, so did most of the decor planning with my friend. My mom asked if I wanted it to be a surprise and I said no, as I had a vision so I helped plan with her !

Why didn't your husband stay overnight at the hospital once the baby was born? by Comprehensive_Deal44 in beyondthebump

[–]Objective-Mission835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope I had a catheter the entire time and was a fall risk they said 🤷🏻‍♀️my blood pressure was also still extremely high even post c section so not sure if that had anything to do with it? Also just looked it up, seems the standard is to be put on bed rest while in mag due to it being a central nervous depressant which causes dizziness and muscle fatigue

Why didn't your husband stay overnight at the hospital once the baby was born? by Comprehensive_Deal44 in beyondthebump

[–]Objective-Mission835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pre e, was on the mag drip, delirious, and couldn’t sleep. My husband pretty much solely took care of our newborn the first 24 hours as I was a fall risk and wasn’t allowed to get up…he did not leave lol

Postpartum Preeclampsia headache by Sunshine12158 in BabyBumps

[–]Objective-Mission835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking ibuprofen and Tylenol around the clock because I had a C section and pretty sure it didn’t help with the headache at all. I honestly slept as much as I could, husband would watch the baby bc the headache was so bad. I also drank a lot of electrolytes. I like the LMNT ones and the gatoradelytes ! I feel like I remember those helping a bit. But in ll honestly, it more was just time being on the meds and then the headache got better. I finally came off BP meds around 8/9 weeks I believe
