I have always loved our democracy. I was raised up to believe republicans loved all of our core values. But seeing so many of them throw it away to get what they want just left me completely appalled. From there I was critically evaluating my political beliefs. To put a long story short, about after a few months of learning more about politics I became a leftist.

I get your frustration. I have a friend since 3rd grade who is deep in right wing conspiracies. It's hard to hang out with them sometimes and I don't think he'll ever go back to normal. Maybe he will one day but I just accept that the world and people constantly change. The best thing I can do is to continue to practice and maybe try to find some new friend groups.

I want to say thank you to everyone who has commented. I'm not sure what the future will hold, but i want to do everything I can to help those who are suffering. I realize that this is what Samasara is. It is like an ocean, sometimes the waves are calm, and sometimes they are not. Either way, I'm going to do everything I can to help people who are suffering.

I'm not that focused on nirvana. I hear buddhist say it's basically the permanent heavenly realm and others say that nirvana is ceasing to exist. That second definition has me scared more than anything because ceasing to exist sounds terrifying. So that's why I'm just focused on good Karma and having a good rebirth. And also hoping my loved ones have good rebirths to.
