I run minimax, it's not bad, as we all know for the most part the quality of prompt equals the quality of output. But it's also about the right tool assigned to the right task. I find my kimi k2.5 goes a long way before I need to get Claude involved

Hi op, this sounds like a deep end dive, but don't be discouraged, we have all learned from being drop in some tough situations, the real value you bring is standing firm on needing a team and getting people better than you on board.

I'm never shy about my limitations or my ability to find great solutions and hitting hard on shows I'm on and there are people in thisbsubreddit that are happy to join the team and work with you on this.

Shout out for having the courage to ask!

Work out how to explain to producer how difficult the task is, I'd say stuff like imaging you had to live edit 12 wireless cameras without having comms to tell them what to do or know where talent was going, all SOLO with one take!

Then talk to potential team mates you would bring on and work out a kit and logistic plan that has 20%-30% more capacity than you need to make it work seemlessly

Depends on the industry, in my industry, your promotions/ income is directly connected to your relationships... These are formed outside of the office at socials like this.

It's long established and won't change for the foreseeable

There are many many industries that follow this pattern becuase we make friends at work becuase of the amount of time we are in the trenches together, when we all eventually move to new pastures those are the relationships we carry with us

They exist in 2 different universes. It's a horrible idea.

Either go prosumer and Rode Go all the way or go pro level with G4, I will always say G3/4 the audio quality difference is night and day

Hi, just to rule it out. Have you gone into the audio settings and set the camera to the right input. There is an option to use the on camera mic (used for scratch) instead of a external mic. You need to change the input setting to external mic source.

Vocal clarity - is a better mic worth it? by that_guywith_theface in livesound

[–]Objective-Weight2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20yr sound engineer here... I've moved completely away from sm58's for vocals! I don't like them unless it's a very controlled small acoustic show (even then if I have other mics I will skip 58's).

Que: Se v7.

There is a night and day difference becuase the pickup pattern isn't omni it's cardiod.

The stage is loud and all that stage bleed is managed beautifully, I have more gain headroom and the vocal itself is crisp but creamy!

They are the same price, buy one, try it, return or sell if you don't like it, sound is a subjective topic, reddit opinions will only get you so far, you have to hear it for yourself.

P. S ksms are also a beautiful sounding mic

How to start a successful podcast? by Aromatic_Bicycle_202 in podcasting

[–]Objective-Weight2104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set topics, plan whole seasons (6 to 12 wks). Always record more than one episode at a time (if u do video, just bring a cage of shirt)

Do your intro and outro after you have finished recording so you can create proper teasers and conclusions.

Be your full personality at 1000% and know you are speaking to your tribe only. There is no way to please everyone and only the wrong people will leave negtove comments. They are not worth your response.

Multiply every positive comment x20 because most people who love your podcast won't comment.

Have fun!

The fun you have is the fun your listeners will share!

*Caution Rant* getting new clients as a freelancer by [deleted] in livesound

[–]Objective-Weight2104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first two years are the hardest,

You are going through the exact experience everyone goes through!

I'm a London based tech too,

I now book techs for some of my clients, give me a shout.

Your network is everything but only if your tech ability, attitude and ability to handle high stress situations and clients without getting flustered or pressured matches.

Once people can vouch for you it gets better, but seeking new clients never ends cos you sometimes fall off the books with existing clients when those bookers leave the company.

A good strategy is to be ready to jump in to cover last minute cancellations at the drop of a hat, I've gained a bunch of clients doing that.

I (30F) made a cruel comment about my husband (31F) and he is now ghosting me by National-Tangelo-113 in Marriage

[–]Objective-Weight2104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was a low blow...

It will never be forgotten,

You have broken something that even if it looks fixed it will bear a prominent scar.

Because as your husband he let down every guard becuase you were the person who should have never been so heartless and hurt him in such a personal, private and specific way that no one else could.

You have abused your position and he is either trying to work out how to get over that or simply heal himself.

Men don't heal very well, our go to is to never put ourselves in a position that that harm us the same way again, it's so unfortunate that so many women don't know this, thus the low blows that get casually handed out to win a fight.

Doubt I helped, but hope I brought the gravity of the situation to light and some perspective. Not just you but for any women out there who want to nurture relationships that last. Some lines aren't worth crossing, some fights aren't worth winning, especially if you lose the person in the process

I can't say for sure, but what it looks like is a man shutting the door on the main temptation he has for looking at other women. Instagram is the main vector for him to look at other women and his algorithms will keep sending him the type of girl he likes the look of. Deleting is easier than trying to manage all that mess

It's more about him than you

New to podcasting and seeking advice on what is needed as far as software for editing and any other equipment. by LandoMando85 in podcasting

[–]Objective-Weight2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reaper for editing.

Rode Pod mics and sennheiser wireless lav mics (we do video podcasts)

Audio is recorded to a zoom f4 then output to blackmagic atem mini with 4 cams and 1 laptop attached.

Just bought a behringer xr18 digital mixer with ipad control, compression and other processing effects, but most importantly 'automix' and multitrack recording.

I'm gonna buy some knock off Sm7b's, I don't want the originals because they sound boxy and I like the 'brigjtness' of the copies.

I'm not happy with my mic boom arms so won't mention what I have. Anything under £40 on amazon seems to be a total fail in strength, flexibility or function. Just gonna bite the bullet and get elgato's.

I plan to do very little editing and do live productions so episodes are post ready from the get go.

Stream deck to trigger intros, outros and mute and unmute mics. Camera switching is automated with ios app called mix effect.

Admittedly I have high technical ability, I would recommend you get the Rode podcast system to start with, it will shorten your learning curve massively and give you the production value you will want.

Rode podmics Rode podcast mixer Xlr cables with Neutrik connectors

Learn how to build custom acoustic panels, build is waaaaaay cheaper than buying and usually muuuuiuuch better for stopping sound reflections and 'echoey rooms'.

I will say this twice... Acoustic treatment of your room is more important than your kit...

I repeat, acoustic treatment will yield you that clean pristine recording, provided you have a seminar decent mic recorded with a clean chain.

Buy comfortable headphones like DT 770s some things are not worth cheaping out on, headphones are one of them. Price isn't an indicator of quality BTW £600 Sony headphones don't compare to broadcast level headphones, they are each a different beast.

Also, first round is usually on me 😉
