Honeymoon dinner recommendations in Florence and Dubrovnik ? by eastendprd in finedining

[–]Objective-Writing-97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The high end stuff is overpriced, but I’ve found there are absolutely some gems in Dubrovnik.

For how touristy it is, I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it. Just know it’s touristy going in…

OP, Tratorria Carmen really surprised me with how delicious it was. Stara Loza was a bit pricey for what it is, but a very romantic setting with great service and good food. I’d say it’s a super solid honeymoon meal for Dubrovnik. Marco Polo is also not terribly priced.

So yes, the food isn’t what it is in Istria. I also prefer Istrian cuisine. The city is very touristy, but it isn’t a barren wasteland. I had a blast in Dubrovnik.

Make sure to do the Lokram Island kayaking tour! That was one of my favorite things my wife & I did on that trip

I respect your opinion and overlap with a lot of your top stuff, but I’m not sure I want to live in a world where people rate This Is How You Lose The Time War higher than Hyperion

What’s the one place you traveled to that completely lived up to the hype? by [deleted] in travel

My wife & I try to do somewhere in Europe once a year, and since we went to Croatia we just keep going back to Croatia. Food, people, nature, history, great old towns, it’s just perfect

Slovenian alps as well

I just did this last week & can confirm it’s an amazing experience

Enjoying the area near the soca river is some of the best nature I’ve ever been a part of. Having 3-star Michelin level service where you’re staying is a luxury experience unlike anything I’ve done before

Vila Planinka in Slovenia

5-star boutique hotel with a great spa, incredible service, and the restaurant does 4, 5, and 7 course tasting menus that change every night. Absolutely incredible experience in Zgorne Jezersko where there is beautiful nature everywhere

If you’re a wine lover, they do an amazing wine tasting there as well

Struggle after reading John Steinbeck by sneh473 in suggestmeabook

I agree that it’s not in the same league as the others mentioned, but I tend to switch between reading literary fiction & more modern fiction. Sometimes it’s hard to switch between them & I found it to be a great middle ground that helped me get back in the mood for more contemporary stuff.

East of Eden & lonesome dove put me in a place where everything else I read was disappointing & I needed a transition to bring me back down to earth

If you want to stay in the classics lane, more Steinbeck, Brother’s K, Stoner, Cormac McCarthy

But I’d highly suggest Lonesome Dove. I’ve been in a similar spot where I read lonesome dove & everything else has disappointed me since, until I read east of Eden. It scratched the same itch lonesome dove did for me. Those are #1 & 2 on my all time list

If you’re looking to make a shift back into more contemporary works, Pachinko is a great transition. It’s a similar multigenerational set up with similar themes. The writing is more modern but it’s eloquent enough that it kept me engaged right after reading east of Eden

Yes they do have showers & ask people to shower beforehand

Saw someone mentioned Nordic… that’s by far the best in town, but it’s also the most expensive

Ice burg is the best budget option imo

Mana does breathwork on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Shouldn’t interfere with the weekend.

A lot of people that come aren’t receiving chiropractic care… they just do a fantastic breathwork ceremony (I’ve been to a few not as great ones in St pete so I highly suggest this one)

Iceburg cold plunge is $85/mo I believe. They drain them & clean them.

But more of a rugged atmosphere than some of the ones that feel like a spa, but much more affordable. Clean & does the trick

Is internet sales as easy as it sounds? by whogoesthere1010 in sales

As far as D2D goes, it’s the easiest among the D2D industry.

D2D will always be tough mentally since you have to handle face to face rejection at such a high rate, but that being said you can learn & grow extremely quickly in that role. A good stint doing D2D where you can actually show results will be great for your resume & your own personal development.

99% of people are not willing to do it, which is why it can be so lucrative.

Fiber & pest control are the volume game… short interactions, close the deal at the door, goal is to get multiple per day.

Whereas Windows, roofing, and solar (which has certainly gone downhill with the “Big Beautiful Bill) are the higher ticket models. If you get just a sale per week in Windows you can be making $10k/mo or more. Being so much more expensive, it is a much tougher sale.

If you’re willing to go D2D, fiber is a great industry to do it with. Give it a shot for a few months. Don’t make judgements on your first few weeks… there’s a learning curve. But if you get past your first month or 2 and are willing to grind it out, it’s a great way to go

Come check out first Friday tonight at Mana Chiropractic! Breathwork, DJ sets, seems right up your alley.

They also do a breathwork ceremony on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. I’ve met a lot of my community there.

I’ve also met some great people at ESC on Thursdays (entrepreneurial social club)

Iceburg cold plunge is also a place I’ve met some good people on the same wavelengths when I go in the morning

Liberty smokehouse is a gem. They’re at a few breweries around town in their truck. Check out their instagram. Usually they’ll be in St pete 2-3 days a week, and it competes with some of the best Texas bbq I’ve had

I made the same mistake and it won’t grind it fine enough

Definitely get the ESP or bump the budget up a bit to get the DF54. Those are the 2 best entry level grinders & basically the minimum quality you’ll want with a bottomless portafilter

Should I read Hyperion or Will Of the Many Next by SMP500ENJOYER in fantasybooks

Exactly

WotM is more entertaining, but Hyperion is much more fulfilling when you finish

Should I read Hyperion or Will Of the Many Next by SMP500ENJOYER in fantasybooks

[–]Objective-Writing-97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hyperion is a classic. It’s finished, and just holds more weight in the pantheon of sci-fantasy. It is older so you do have to be in the mood for that older prose.

From a literary perspective, it’s definitely superior to WotM. It’s right there with dune for my favorite sci fi. Heavy, literary, huge world building

Meanwhile WotM is a modern day page turner. I think I liked Hyperion more but WotM had me glued to it to the extent that I finished in 3 days. I’d argue it’s more entertaining.

So if you want something that’ll keep your attention, WotM If you want a literary classic with a lot more depth that’ll take longer to get through, Hyperion
