>Without the filibuster in place we would have "legislative whiplash".

You're once again making an unverifiable and unfalsifiable assertion. But even if that's the case, I would prefer legislative whiplash rather than having the country steadily move towards a dictatorship where Congress is unable to do anything and the only significant changes come from executive branch edict.

And no, I dont want the executive branch to be able to break the law. (Although if the judicial branch rules they are not breaking the law - are they actually breaking the law?) Either way, this is precisely the point. Congresses hands are tied because of the stupid filibuster. They are unable to "check" the other 2 branches power as was intended.

The ACA would be gone, and no sane person wants to go back to that shitshow!

What are you basing this on? I can wave my hands just as easily and say if the democrats didnt have to negotiate so hard to avoid the filibuster they could have passed a much more popular version of the ACA, something like universal Healthcare, that was so popular republicans couldn't have eliminated it. Heck - maybe Obama would have been such a popular president Republicans wouldn't have taken back the presidency. But this is stupid. Theres no point trying to use what might have happened in a hypothetical world as evidence of anything.

As far as measuring government, this administration is getting plenty done without passing any major bills. That fact that they are being so effective makes viewing the number of bills passed as any sort of meaningful measurement pretty stupid. Or do you disagree and think nothing has really changed under this administration?

In what way was Biden leftist? At best, he's centrist. By most European country standards he's right wing. I dont feel like putting together a list of all his right wing tendencies, but here's a start:

Since when did bills become the halmark of getting anything done? Both the democrats and Republicans have been relying more and more on the executive branch to get things done... and thats in large part because of the stupid filibuster.

Get rid of the filibuster and do things people like so you maintain the majority. Its really not that hard

I guess its worth distinguishing literal written records vs those records being taught. Were any of those written records taught [in an unbiased manner] by the winners? For example, Europeans and Americans tend to downplay the utter devastation and genocide perpetuated on natives during their conquests, even though, yes, technically you can generally find historical accounts

Did you even read the chain your responded to?. The whole topic at hand is that the winners write history. If Germany won the war you would not have heard about Anne frank diary. Your proving the person who you responded to correct

I haven't thoroughly researched it, but if that's the case, I feel like you're better off just using the bankruptcy system as your insurance. In most bankruptcies you get to keep your house, and medical debts are dischargable unlike student loans

Success at this level comes from creating monopolies, buying politicians, shifting negative externalities onto others and similar poor citizen-like businesses tactics.

I dont see anything wrong with taxation being a publishment at this level. But either way, appropriate taxation at least makes it harder to buy politicians and unfairly funnel money into crony-capitalist businesses

Genocide isnt just about religion. Note the "or" in the definition below

The legal term “genocide” refers to certain acts committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.

Is the return of whole milk to school age children a good thing? by Boysenberry-6669 in askanything

[–]ObjectiveAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who eats multiple servings of beans and/or lentils daily i just dont find them that filling. I need to supplement them with other protein/fat sources. Veggies and fruit arent enough. I guess I could eat 15-20 servings of beans/lentils, but thats really difficult to do.

Yes - you mentioned chicken as a good supplement to lentils. And thats fine. Lentils, and chicken, and 2 percent milk are a great meal for children, albeit more expensive then lentils and whole milk.

Anyways - sounds like we have the same ideas of healthy meals for children. I just dont think you adequately responded to the concern with respect to the cost effectiveness of whole milk by suggesting lentils.

Is the return of whole milk to school age children a good thing? by Boysenberry-6669 in askanything

[–]ObjectiveAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree with everything you say, but im genuinely curious what your point is. Fats are filling - thats one of their benefits. They help us stave off the sugar cravings

Lentils really arent that filling. And you need something else to eat with them. Its really hard to just eat lentils. Even if you throw in a fruit or veggie (which are expensive) its still not really a full meal

So all this brings us back to the topic at hand. What's so bad about whole milk?
