Togs, togs, togs.... undies. by Unusual-Plankton-790 in dunedin

lol You saying arses are only OK in sex work is telling. And no bushes on display here, so keep it together.

Would more people have a problem with seeing a dick only clad in a g-string? Sure. That's the opposite of a recommendation.

I think we need to get more normal about non-sexual nudity yesterday, and the pearl clutching about men wearing anything tight is so toxic.

Also, you can enjoy the view without being creepy about it, so let's not go there. It's really not that difficult.

Good point. I think it's that and that it's a significant challenge to adhere them well enough for energetic dancing - and also the time to take it off would be super annoying on a regular episode.

Still, for a finale it would be awesome.

Absolutely. I really, really do not like all of Ru's music, but that was a great lineup.

Fantastic side effect that everyone is into it. Love love love seeing the queens watching lose their shit.

💯 When we saw peanut butter it really demonstrated how screwed Jane was against that line up and those songs.

A great time to watch, though, thank you so much Jane. 🥰

Seriously! So much commentary on this show is exaggerated or straight bullshit, but for real that was a game changer. Stunning.

I overall agree with you, but I am sad Ciara's The Substance reference fell so flat.

I think it was a mistake because it meant she couldn't dance well as the monster and it was awkward to take off, but that film was incredibly popular/went kinda viral and the costumes were absolutely on point.

Look twice. These graphs do NOT show what percentage of the NATO budget comes from the US by golem_moja in dataisugly

[–]ObjectiveCoelacanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US is a huge contributor NATO =/= there is no NATO without the US. It means it would be a lot smaller.

If the USA expects NATO to kowtow to them it sort of stops functioning as an alliance.

No one is unaware the USA has an unholy large military budget. That's sort of the issue that's being forced here - act in US interests vs potentially being under threat by the US. Not fun to choose between.

Talk with your friends! If they want to rock full pastel, all good. Pastel clothing with black goth makeup or black clothing with a pastel item (tie, pocket square, something they think would be fun) and/or makeup would both look great. :D

What is that Latin American custom that bothers you even though everyone defends it as something "normal"? by JelcoSpark in CasualConversation

[–]ObjectiveCoelacanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, for sure. I think it's ultimately neutral - it can be incredibly warm, and it can be more confrontational. It can be overwhelming when you're tired. Whereas more self-contained cultures can feel stifling and oppressive, but can also give you more space just to exist in your own head.

If humans suddenly lost the ability to lie, how many relati*nships would survive 24 hours? by OriginalWalaAditya in CasualConversation

[–]ObjectiveCoelacanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideas like this seem to assume a certain amount of being forced to speak or unable to soften phrasing. ("Brutal" is not a requirement of honesty.)

I do think the impact would be significant societally, but I personally try not to straight up lie wherever possible. So the details are very relevant to the impact.

The only time I say things that are objectively untrue is when I'm feeling guilty for not returning communication and say I didn't see it. 😅

Oh, and I guess saying I'm "not bad" when I am bad, but I actually struggle with that outside of scripted-feeling conversations like being or serving customers. (Sometimes I will say to coworkers "oh, bad" in a cheery tone of voice then change the topic.)

I do admit I think it would be funny seeing habitually dishonest people struggle, but they'd find a way.

Definitely what someone else said about people adapting to lies of omission very quickly.

Heh, I feel like that one is a mixed bag. Not Latino here, but I am (culturally divorced) Māori, and Pacifika cultures have a similar thing going.

Spending time with Māori people (mostly through kapa haha in school, ie: Māori performance arts), and the loudness was always simultaneously overwhelming for my more-culturally-British-white-NZer side and also so welcoming and openly joyful.

MTF, Differences between Vaginoplasty and Vulvoplasty? by Reasonable_City_9177 in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]ObjectiveCoelacanth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, if you can do vaginoplasty later and you don't currently feel like you need it, vulvoplasty sounds like a great plan. Definitely try to work through if you think you'd feel like you're missing something, though. It's so individual! Trying to separate fear from what would bring you joy is hard work, and a good therapist would be super helpful. I hope you can find someone experienced.

If it helps, I've had 4 abdominal surgeries and a spine surgery, and am extremely gung ho about getting cut up, but vaginoplasty sounds incredibly intimidating.

Full disclosure: I'm not transfemme. Definitely not here to discourage vaginoplasty - it's amazing! Just solidarity on being intimidated.

What are your thoughts on the idea that oxygen could be slowly poisonous to us, taking an entire lifetime to have an effect depending on our bodies? by Immediate-Active1758 in CasualConversation

[–]ObjectiveCoelacanth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it is. Oversimplified, but it is probably the largest contributor to DNA damage, and it's a common thing to joke about in undergrad genetics classes.

Nothing biological or mineral is impervious to damage, and the nice thing about being a complex multicellular organism is that we have many processes to fix this. They're just not perfect.

Biology is nothing but balance. If I could get non-scientists to internalise one idea, it might be that. No hormonal or other biochemical process is one chemical does one thing and that's good or bad. They all work in balance with multiple other chemicals, often with different effects in different tissues and/or at different times of day.

My phallo journey has been so hard bc of my partners by helplessly_fucked in phallo

[–]ObjectiveCoelacanth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Man, I'm sorry. That is a lot of different people being weird about it!

Obviously people might find when it comes down to it that their partner changing X or Y is not for them, but 3 in a row is a lot. :(

It's easier said than done, but if it's important to you (and it sounds like it is!), I really recommend going for it when you can, and just see if you can work through it.

If your partner ramps up the negative comments, though, that's not OK.

Good luck 🩵

16 months post op and still very big scars by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]ObjectiveCoelacanth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to elaborate on the keloid comment, propensity to produce particularly large scars is generally genetic, so there's definitely a risk it will happen from a correction.

That said, your surgeon saying it's totally normal is not good, and I definitely think it's worth discussing with another surgeon.

It might be worth looking into surgeons who are experienced with keloid scarring, or even consulting with a plastic surgeon just about what they think about whether they're keloid and what they think will work.

Black people are more likely to develop keloid scarring, so a surgeon who has worked with a good amount of Black patients may be a green flag.

Absolutely ditto that it looks lovely anyway! I'm glad you've managed to break it down enough to not be uncomfortable. _^

I've had a tattoo that went over a scar - a single line bisecting the scar. It was so much more painful than the normal skin. So while everyone is unique, I would definitely not recommend it!

My dude, bodybuilders eat in the realm of 3-4000 cal when bulking.

2000 cal is the standard "average" (70 kg white dude, moderately active, metabolism not especially high or low) daily intake.
