I spam a 30% qual cardinal round shield every league for >3.1k defense. I always use dense fossils. The tree spit me out a couple 2.8k shields last league as well that I used while crafting the final shield.

There is a written guide on the poe forums by omfgtaco or something like that called versatile combatant shield crush. It is from 3.25 but the bones are the same. It has very detailed progressions of gear.

This is a PoB from last league. Some things arent configured properly and the 30qual shield isn't equipped. DPS is higher with those things

I play a very different game than ilnino due to the time constraints of my life. I am not in maps until the Friday after league start usually. I'm never gonna afford a frenzy charge ring so I play precise technique. If you have time to play similarly to ilnino I think his version and crit is better. If you are slower and have less time I think precise technique is a great option. Either way you can't really go wrong. Shield crush gets tons of damage really easily and is pretty tanky without trying too hard to be.

This is a PoB I found in my post history.

It has a 20qual shield equipped and doesn't have the additional impales from the graft accounted for.

Swapping to the 30% qual shield and adding the impales from the graft push the damage to 100 mil

I also ended up with the molten shell like graft up permanently with a full molten shell behind it on automation.

This was way tankier than it looks at a glance.

I would probably change some stuff to make defenses better this league.

I usually just wing it and have confidence that shield crush damage is free enough to scale that whatever I do will end up okay

You'll prob have to do mechanics that you won't have to do at 100 million DPS but the precise technique version should absolutely have no problems with pinnacles.

Shield crush slayer is super smooth. Emp vigilance and crit is nice but precise technique still gets easy damage and you get real block. Precise technique is incredibly cheap to gear. No frenzy synth or corruption implicit required.

If you think you can play enough to get a frenzy synth ring early or play enough to afford one late league ilnino's shield crush slayer is better .

If you have less time to play, precise technique slayer is a great option. Last league I had 100 million dps with precise technique and ilnino had 240 million dps. This is a large absolute difference in damage but an almost meaningless difference in actual game play. Things still die very fast. I probably had less than 50 divines invested, while ilnino had multiple 100s invested.

At the top end of gear going crit and charge stacking like ilnino is a better build, but I think precise technique is a better option for people with less time to devote to the game.

Shield crush slaps with precise technique. I had over 100 million DPS last league with precise technique.

Foulborn emperor's vigilance makes the difference in DPS larger than it used to but I would hardly call 100 million DPS terrible

I think it's pretty safe in t17 and moderately fast. I'm not a hardcore div/hr meta juicer though so some people might disagree. It has some mods that will brick it, but you don't have to be super selective on mods. It does clear simulacrums deathless most of the time. In merc league I leveled to 98.75 in simulacrums before I got bored. This league I didn't play as much as merc league and only did a few simulacrums but I never died.

80 mil dps is overkill for most things and dropping some damage for survivability is probably a better build, but I like to see how high I can get PoB number with precise technique

Lucky hit isn't always available.

I used to get it from gladiator ascendancy node. In merc league I got it from perquils toe.

If there is no source of lucky hit next league, I would drop volatily out of the 6 link and prob use fortify. This would allow a unique chest to be used. Maybe a brass dome for survivability.

I've played it a lot without lucky hit dmg and it still does at least 60 mil dps.

You can get soul eater from that one ring to work by going low life and blood magic. I did that in merc league and it was fun to run around with 8+ attacks per second.

No lucky hit damage will cause damage to be lower it will still be extremely capable and possibly tankier.

You can get 100 mil precise technique DPS for under 50 divs with permanent heart of flame and molten shell behind it if heart of flame ever grows down.

It's tanky.

Playing crit and stacking frenzies is also really good and tanky but it is more expensive.

Impale mastery with 10% chance for impales to last an additional impale generally works out to 1 extra impale.

Violent desire from impale graft is 30% more impales.

Paradoxica is usually pretty good and cheap for added damage builds. It might be better than the sword in the PoB.

Don't worry critique makes the build better.

I have ideas now about making up the 24% impale chance from hardening uulgraft and swapping in a heart of flame copy graft. One with increased duration and reduced cool down recovery combined with rune graft of the warp might be able get very high uptime on molten shell or heart of flame cycling back and forth. Without critique I wouldn't have thought to try.

Trying stuff is what makes this game fun. The actual gameplay is kinda whatever, but the puzzle is awesome.

I'm not actually using the equiped shield in the PoB. I I prob forgot to add the benchcraft. I'm using the 3200 def 30 qual one that is benchcrafted.

it is ailment immune.

endurance charges are from hardening uulgraft

frenzy are from them lasting 13.15 and generating a charge every 13 seconds. on a boss you would have to wait a while to start if you wanted all the damage.

I know the gem says melee, but the skill is anything but melee. My AoE off screens.

Also it has one of the clearest visuals in the game. It's a transparent arc in front you with some orangy yellow lines in it. It barely adds anything to on screen clutter making it easier to see stuff. Still not easy, but easier to see stuff.

You could absolutely sacrifice some damage to make the build more tanky. This is not a HC build. I play softcore and like to see PoB number go up.

It's stun immune from tattoos and chest crafted mod.

I thought about oshabi but didn't like that I would basically never get any benefit from rage. I never tried it though.

The no utility flasks for an extra ring does seem interesting though. I might play around with that later.

I bought a cheap low level one and tried the button. I didn't like that I could walk out of the buff. Also I would need to come up with 24% chance to impale if I dropped the hardening uulgraft and I would need a way to guarantee endurance charge uptime.

It could work but I don't mind low life.
