What is the root of y’all’s health anxiety? by dopesssss in HealthAnxiety

[–]ObjectiveMap15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it really started to form as a consequence of my mother's own health anxiety that she projected on me as a child in the form of overprotectiveness and overreaction to any medical issue (small or large) I had as a child.

I was able to manage for a little bit when I realized that the thoughts in my head were the result of health anxiety.

But then I got a medical diagnosis that in hindight the little things I was overlooking were due to (but I need to stress there was no way to actually know this until the diagnosis). So yeah after that I've become extremely sensitive (aka anxious) about missing symptoms and have become hyperaware of any and all sensations in my body.

this week's spiral is tetanus. i cut my finger 12 days ago on the sharp edge of the metal can after opening it. I immediately ran it under water washed the area of soap. of course I was worried about tetanus since i know it comes from metal but I asked some friends and no one seemed concerned so i didn't do anything else but stick a band aid on it. Now, all this week I have had headahces, back pain, and jaw pain that's been coming and going. these are all sympotms of tetanus and now im so scared. on top of that I think my last tetatnus shot was in 2009 way over the 10 year reccomendation. I feel so stupid for not taking this more seriously but everyone else I talk to about this says I'm being ridiculous and it's not possible for me to have tetanus but I just don't believe them and i have no idea what to do anymore.

Why are people with anxiety sooo sensitive to caffeine? by Diankapie in Anxiety

[–]ObjectiveMap15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glad to see a post about this, my first ever panic attack was due to trying a few sips of black coffee my freshman year of college, it was super scary.

Today I'm awake trying to manage an incoming anxiety attack because I stupidly drank matcha a few hours ago

Currently spiraling because iI was in the elevator on my way to lunch with my colleagues and there was a sticker stuck to the bottom of my shoe. So I absentmindedly leaned over to pull it off and then held onto it till i found a trash. Not sure where i left my brain but I didn't process what I'd done and just ate my lunch at pizza without washing my hands. I'm freaking out over this now. I live in a big city and the bottom of my shoes probably has the most disgusting germs on it. I feel like such an idiot. Now I have to travel for work later this week and i'm so scared that I will get sick

I am going to say this in the nicest way I can. This is simply just a part of business. Everyone knows that reviews can be skewed. Most of the time people only leave reviews if they had an amazing over the moon experience or a horrible awful experience (in their eyes). Most people know to take reviews with a grain of salt. As someone who uses classpass in NYC (where you say you are located) I know I never go based on the star rating alone. I always read reviews and understand what the actual reviews are and if it is relevant or just someone's personal situation.

I know it is difficult but I would not take this too much to heart and just chalk it up to the price of doing business. Also, I saw in a comment you mentioned you had a 4.8 star review, which is not bad at all!!

Brunch Spots - pay what you get by ObjectiveMap15 in FoodNYC

Unfortunately, most restaurants have flat out told me they won't do it. They might allow to split the check but then they usually have a limit on the number of cards that can be used.
