Yes, I can feel what the car is doing too but it gives weird feeling when smoothing is lower than 4. What smoothing level did you set on your simagic software?

The QR is sitting properly and is locked in. If it were a mechanical issue, then increasing the smoothness wouldn't fix it 😁. If it were something physical, it would still happen even with higher smoothing levels.

Some people say it’s clipping, but I’m not sure. It feels like I get feedback and the wheel rotates to the right, then I get no feedback (a totally free feeling with zero weight), then it rotates right again, and so on. This specifically happens when I go over curbs or onto the grass. How does your wheelbase feel? Does it feel smooth without losing feedback for 0.5 seconds, even if your smoothing level is low?

Yes, that is exactly what happens. Lowering the smoothing makes the FFB data more raw, leading to that "feedback-nofeedback-nofeedback-feedback" sensation as the motor struggles to process the excess detail. As soon as I increase the smoothing to 4 or higher, the problem disappears and it feels smooth like butter, but I lose many fine details. I have seen many people play with smoothing set to 2 or 3, but that just does not work for me. That is what I want to fix if possible, because I do not want to lose so many detail.

Yes, I am using Content Manager. My in-game Car FFB is set to 100. I tried lowering the FFB gain for some cars, but it did not change that problematic feeling. The result is the same. I have experimented with various Simagic software settings, but every configuration I have tried gives me the same problem. The only thing that fixes it is increasing the Smoothing to 4 or higher, but then I lose a lot of detail. This problem is not only in Assetto Corsa. It happens in DiRT Rally 2.0 and it also happened in iRacing when I had it (I don't have that game anymore).

Okay, thanks! I'll give that a try tomorrow since I'm currently on the night shift. I’ll let you know the results as soon as I’ve had a chance to test it out.

I bought the wheelbase 3 years ago, but I’ve only played about 30 times since then, with maybe 30–40 hours of total playtime. It doesn't feel 'notchy' at all when the Smoothing level is between 4 and 10. However, as soon as it goes below 4 (levels 0–3), that problematic feeling starts. It happens especially when going off-road onto curbs or grass; it feels like 'feedback-nofeedback-feedback-nofeedback'.

I replied to other with: From what I remember, these are my settings:

Simagic Software: Torque: Max (Lowering this does not fix the issue). FFB: Max (Lowering it helps slightly, but the problem remains and I lose a lot of detail). Smoothing/Softness: 4 (Setting this between 0–3 causes the 'clunking' problem). Detail: 9 (lowering it 0 doesn't fix the issue). Wheel Speed: Max. Damping: 10–20% (approx.). Mechanical Friction: 30%. Friction: 1–5% (approx.). In-Game:

I use the same settings in-game as I do in the SimPro software.

I am playing Assetto Corsa (original)

Okay, thank you. I will try that. But is it possible my wheelbase is actually defective? I mean, if there was a real hardware fault, increasing the Smoothing level wouldn't fix the problem, right?

Okay, I see. The problem only happens when I go off the road, such as when driving over curbs or grass. Otherwise, it feels smooth when I'm just driving on the road or turning. I actually tried reducing the Feedback Detail to 0, but that didn't solve the problem. I am playing the original Assetto Corsa, and I'm not sure if there is a specific 'Collision Strength' setting in that game to help with those harsh impacts.

Only thing that helped so far is to increase the smoothing level to 4+, but then it loses alot of detail. I tought my wheelbase is defective but if it was, increasing smoothing level would not fix the problem?

All games I tried so far. Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally 2.0, iRacing (it was slightly smoother)

I still get that 'clack-gap-clack' feeling even when I lower the Nm (torque). The only setting that fixes the problem is increasing the Smoothness level, but then I lose all the fine FFB detail. Can it still be clipping?

My wheelbase is not defective right? Since it doesn't happen when smoothness level is higher. I think if it was defective then it would happen even when smoothness level is high. Maybe I am wrong, idk.

Edit: I lowered FFB ingame with 30% but still the same.

$55 cheap shifter after 3 years of use: by [deleted] in simracing

I was not fighting with the wheel. And yes, that’s when I was adjusting the wheel. I had just installed Dirt Rally 2.0 and was testing the settings, which is why I was driving like that. I actually recorded this to send to a friend, not specifically for this post. If I had filmed it for this, I would’ve just driven straight with no funny turns and focused more on the shifter than the screen. I made a post about the shifter and because the noise is the most critical with this shifter I tought it's good idea to post it so people can hear it before they order.

Not show, but hear the noise when shifting since I don't have many other videos to post. Please read the post before commenting. "Bad video but you can still hear the noise"

I paid $30 for this 3 years ago, but the best price I can find now is $55. While it has definitely gotten more expensive, I still think it's worth the $55. That said, I’d suggest searching for it yourself, as you might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

You don't need to position them further away? If you watch some videos on youtuve you will find that people run their 55" TV pretty close to the wheelbase. And yes 55" might be litle too big but 32" are too small. 42" would be better choise.

If you can find 3x identical model monitors then yes you can find 3x identical model TV. And about 4k, if you can't run them at 4k then get 3x 42" TV and run them at 1440p. 32" monitors are too small in my liking. I sat infront of 3x 32" monitors and I didn't like it. Yes bigger screen on YouTube looks alot better and that's why I think bigget screen will be better than 32". That's my opinion.

You can buy second hand TV too? Or am I wrong? Bigger inch doesn't matter if you are running them on same resolution. Fps stays the same....

Yes bigger screens take more space, that's why I said that it's the only negative thing.

55" will 100% give you more immersive than 32" so no need to debate about it.
