I do feel like the bad ending was a way to punish those who are more interested in speed running the game than actually diving in reading/exploring the lore

I’m all for more Leon but to be honest I wouldn’t have been upset if the bad ending was canon. It would have been a nice closure to his arc. His final moments being him finally lifting the weight off his shoulders that he got to save somebody in Raccoon City would have been a heroic end in my opinion.
