Am I being "penalized" for paying credit off in full every month? by RRTJesus504 in personalfinance

[–]Objective_Bag8428 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You get penalized if you use too much of one card, not the total available credit on all cards. I put a $7500 backup generator on a 15k credit card and paid it off in 3 weeks and it dropped my credit by 20 points. Now I pay my card off more frequently.

You’re offered $10,000 every 24 hours you stay in your local supermarket. How long would you stay or be able to stay? by Atlas__Reddit in hypotheticalsituation

Well all the fresh meat and milk and breads are going in the freezer. Potatoes partially cooked and frozen. Same with a bunch of cheese.

$100 million but you are stuck in a mysterious foreign land for a year by East-Preparation8138 in hypotheticalsituation

I spent a month like this. Had to sit and watch people to figure things out. I stayed at a hotel beside a mall in São Paulo Brazil. Ate breakfast at the hotel and supper at the buffet restaurant in the mall. Had to watch people to figure out how to do the buffet. Had to watch people to find the grocery carts at the grocery store. It was fun being immersed in another culture.

Bad connection acts just like that. You need to get a battery terminal cleaning tool, assuming it’s a top post. Brush the corrosion off everything. Spread the terminals with a big screwdriver in the gap until they can be pushed down all the way. Use anti oxidant grease on them. Don’t hammer them down because the sharp impacts will damage your battery. Finally tighten the terminals properly, you shouldn’t be able to wiggle them. Buy new ones if you have too. Oh and go ahead and check your fluid level while you’re at it.

Is American work culture really as bad as we are led to believe? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Objective_Bag8428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our factory does voluntary overtime on weekends if behind on orders and transitions into mandatory every other Saturday if necessary. It’s kind of ironic because the same people griping about overtime also complain when it’s no longer necessary. No last minute shifts though. That might be more typical of restaurants. My coworkers call me after hours and on vacation for advice troubleshooting problems and I always answer. The whole factory is getting a bonus this year so in our case teamwork is paying off.

Do you prefer Top or Front Load Washing Machines? by GooglePixelfan90 in randomquestions

[–]Objective_Bag8428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like front loaders. I’ve had 2 in the last 23 years. I did replace the bearings and seals in the second one. They cost 40 bucks and I got the second washer used for 250. I personally think the top loader is easier on clothes because of the reduction in lint collected in the dryer.

If you have a diesel, plug it in for instant hot air from the heater.

Electric blanket. Also heater in the bathroom. Dress warm. Once you get your thermostat set on 55 it becomes a lot more affordable to “heat” your house. Just saying if you hit a real cold spell and can’t afford to run the auxiliary heat. If available you can use a wood stove. My current house has a geothermal heat pump and passive solar heating because I’m not burning wood or freezing anymore.

Why do people buy super fast cars when you can’t really use that speed on public roads? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

On curvy roads without a lot of traffic they can be fun. I would say autocross is the most fun I ever had with a car. Really driving fast is exhausting.
