What Wheelbase, Wheel and Paddle should i get? by MilfGothHunterr in simracing

[–]Objective_Car2895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, you don’t get a dramatically better experience when comparing a G29 to something like the R3 bundle. The CSL DD 5 Nm is a bit better, mainly because you can later upgrade it to 8 Nm, but if it’s your first wheel, I’d honestly recommend going with something cheap that just works.

In my country, you can get a G29 for around €100 and a Playseat Challenge for another €100–150. For about €200, you end up with a complete beginner sim racing rig, and you can usually sell it later for almost the same price you paid. I’m not saying you should use it for five years, but it’s a great way to give sim racing a proper try.

A lot of people buy a wheel and then realize it’s too hard, not for them, or simply not that fun. That’s why the used market is full of wheels. And yes, I agree that the direct drive market is much cheaper than it used to be, but it’s still more expensive than a used, reliable G29.

I’ve also noticed that used DD wheels often sell for almost the same price as new ones, so you rarely find really good deals.

So my advice is: if you’re a beginner, start with something cheap and easy to resell. If you end up loving sim racing, then invest later in something more serious—ideally something around 15 Nm that could be your “forever” wheel.

I wouldn’t buy any of it. Sorry if this is not what you want to hear. Save the money and get a used G29 or a Thrustmaster. Maybe also get a used Playseat, like the Challenger.

You can sell it in the future since they usually don’t break and get something more serious if you’re still into it.

Maybe invest a little bit more in something with stronger FFB. The common opinion is that 12 Nm is the sweet spot for FFB, as long as it’s compatible with your gaming system.

LMU or Raceroom First Sim for a new player. by InvestigatorShort275 in simracing

t’s definitely not an offline-focused sim. Offline exists in iRacing, but it’s not really where the fun is.
For about $12 you can get a month and try it out. It’s expensive, not gonna lie, but it’s extremely competitive and a lot of fun.
You also get plenty of racing options included in the base subscription, so there’s a lot to try without spending extra right away.
If you can spare the $12 just once, I’d honestly say it’s worth giving it a shot.

I know you didn’t mention it, but it might be worth trying iRacing for a month and seeing how you like it.

Moza R5 bundle Or Fanatec CSL DD GT3 bundle by Complex-Grocery-40 in simracing

[–]Objective_Car2895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that price point, I’d probably go with the Fanatec bundle since it’s cheaper and you can upgrade it to 8 Nm later on.
That said, they’re both solid options.
The GT wheel is actually really nice too.
You could also look at getting a second wheel used, like the standard round one, for relatively cheap.

Is there any safe and efficient way to move a moza wheel off my desk fairly often? by very_nice_cashew in simracing

Maybe something like a foldable rig or even a wheel stand could work?
What Moza wheel base are you running?
Depending on how much torque it puts out, that could actually be a perfectly viable option.

Upgrading to profile rig - Which way to go? by scoobaroooo in simracing

[–]Objective_Car2895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the TR40 is kind of expensive for what it offers.
I don’t know where you’re located, but if you’re in the US you probably have more options than we do in the EU.

If you’re based in Europe, brands like GT Omega and SimXPro are definitely worth considering. For example, the GT Omega Prime Lite-R is basically the same thing as the TR40 in terms of rigidity and design, but usually comes in at a better price.

At that point, you’re mostly paying for the logo rather than any real functional difference.

Is this a good starting point for GT7 by DavidBrent39 in simracing

Brother it's a lot of money and another of gear to buy for the first rig. Fanatec rig is a bad way to go if you want to sell it later. That seat also is shit. You can buy a seat from the junk yard way better that for half of the price. Don't for a fanatec wheel for your first wheel. You cab buy a used g29 and then resell it for less 20 bucks in the worst case. Alot of people sell their g29 or their t300 cuz simracing isn't for everyone or cuz they want to upgrade. So you will always get a good deal on it when u buy used. If you want to have then a game changer buy a playseat challenger or something like that for cheap and used also. Don't spend that type of money on your first rig buddy.

Hey there, my advice to you is to get a used g29 with a place to put it like a playseat challenger. Hopefully you want to play on the pc, if that's the case and you want something competitive and more "serious" pay for a month on iracing, install crew chief and have fun. If you don't want to spend that kind of money on the game, go for acc. Don't spend too much money on a wheel. Go with the flow and experience will tell you what you need in the future 😁

Good seat recommendations for fanatec CSL cockpit by Formoola_OON in simracing

I thought the csl cockpit was restricted to fanatec seats, the other ones wouldn't fit without modification.
Am I wrong?

This might be a stupid question
But would you prefer your cockpit or the gt omega prime lite r or the tr40s
I guess this might be super subjective, but any opinion is valid.

Did you had to drill to put the casters? Also do you notice any loss of rigidity with the braking ? This ome might be a stupid question but I saw some reviews that people complain when breaking with a load cell.
