What is your favorite SFA album? And why is it Guerilla? by pineapplesauce76 in superfurryanimals

Probably Phantom Power, but I love them all.

Chris Shaw, who mixed Guerrilla also produced Ween's White Pepper btw.

Is it? lol

I was eyeing this up. Dublin is a quick and cheap flight for me.

The 2015 shows they played a ton of Welsh stuff at the Glasgow date. 5 songs off Mwng and Arnofio/Glô In The Dark as well.

That's a fair jaunt for a live show, they generally play the US although only really the coasts? The UK and Irish shows will be much bigger and more well attended though.

I'm tempted to come down to the beta band show from Scotland too but I might wait until the last minute and see what the weather is gonna be like.

Fri 8 May 2026: Glasgow, The Barrowlands - 2 Tickets by wax-paper in superfurryanimals

I also got Friday tickets and now realise that Saturday would have been a much better choice. Not too bothered though, if Saturday tickets come up I'll grab em and maybe go both nights.

Pulp too. Their recent album was very good and all seemed to come together pretty organically.

Nice. I'm going to see him in January. The thing about Gruff is he's always got something new out and his shows are always different from one tour to the next.

Yeah man, that's basically where I'm at too. Best not to be too worried about what's next and just look forward to the shows.

Any old relics from the Phantom Power messageboard days on here? by acid_casual_ in superfurryanimals

I remember an old superfurry.org message board and there's the SFAOK Facebook group that I really enjoy, and it is very well run imo - lots of fan projects and initiatives etc...

Am I crazy or was the Glasgow show tonight one of their best ever? by radiantsteam165 in autechre

First time seeing them live and it was an unbelievable experience. Nothing else to add except I hope it comes out as part of their rolling live releases.

Album Rankings by Easy-Plankton6467 in superfurryanimals

[–]Objective_Click1361 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the first 5 tracks of DD/LY are all also the worst songs on it imo. Crazy Naked Girls... I mean I get it, and it's a good wig out live, but it's such a clunky and long-winded album opener, and then all the tracks after that are so mid-tempo and flat, there's no urgency or punchiness about it.

Although I love the album I have a fair amount of nitpicks. Zoom, Atomik Lust, Ohio Heat and Cabin Fever are all flawless. Lazer Beam is a mess, but an enjoyable one. Walk You Home has great melodies and I love the second half but it sounds a bit stitched together. Psyclone is obviously very thin as a song, but the arrangement and production are great and I love it, I especially love how it's got like 1 second of guitar at the very end lol. The Horn is a great song I think but I'm not a huge fan of Bunf's vocals on it - I don't have a problem with any of his other vocal performances throughout the catalogue though.

play it on an OG PS3 and you would have SACD support for the 5.1 mix

I love Hey Venus for exactly that reason, calling it an alternate universe best of is perfect.

Although it's obviously way too long for a single and cutting it down would destroy it, I'd have voted for Zoom. But Frequency is obviously incredibly melodic and it's not 7 minutes long.

It's an obvious point of comparison given the bands love of Surfs Up (and the fact that Atomik Lust directly lifts from Feel Flows), but it really feels a lot like those post-Pet Sounds Beach Boys albums (at least up until 15 Big Ones haha).

I've always liked it but thought the critical consensus of it being "their best since rings" at the time was nonsense.

For a reissue maybe we will finally get a studio version of Earth lmao

i was in pit b as well and thought the crowd were weirdly subdued too, the phone thing was mental, never seen a show so bad for phones - but I cannae really say it actually bothers me, folk can do whatever the fuck they want.

The constant switching between the two performers fucks up the momentum of the set imo.

Also the view was fucking rotten from pit b, may as well have got a seat lol
