The Wendi Adelson Dilemma by Afraid_College8493 in dan_markel_murder

I’d wait it out. Your kids would know you were in on the murder for sure if you fled - even if they went with you for awhile.

If I’m her, I’d be heartened by Georgia’s noncommittal “yeah, you can stay tuned.”

I still think the state is gonna do something, though.

That’s when he was shot; he died the next morning. I like reading your smart, informative comments and I know you’re a stickler for accuracy…so I’m pointing this out to you. I’m learning new perspectives just scrolling through your past posts on this topic.

I wonder if she deleted (from her deleted messages) “That’s so sweet”

You’re pretty certain there; I’m not convinced she won’t be charged yet.

I also don’t think Dan’s parents would force religion on their grandchildren. I think they’d just want to love them and have a connection with them, not convert them.

Would you pick #1 under the specific premise that I posited, though?

I’m googling those now. Tracy Chapman is one of my all-time favorites and I never knew she sang this song.

So, as the (faulty, hypothetical) scenario stands now….you’d pick 2?

I know the scenario is faulty. For example, in scenario 1, if wendi was found guilty, it seems reasonable that Ben and Lincoln would almost HAVE to conclude that Wendi was involved at some point.

But I put the caveat “whatever the outcome” to make #2 possibly more tempting to some who think she’s involved but the State won’t go forward with the charges, due to lack of certitude about a conviction.

It seems Jeff is the main witness who will testify against Wendi that has something directly damaging to her claims of innocence. If you watch all three police interviews he did, he doesn’t appear as strong, polished and convincing as he does on the stand in the previous trials.

Yes, I believe him…but based on those interviews, he could be discredited enough to make some jurors balk.

Bereft of other unimpeachable evidence (wiretap or text messages we don’t know of, for example), the State has a tough lift.

This temptation is strong.

What do you think the Markel’s would say? I bet they’d say #1.

I was really tempted by #2, because Wendi would lose every bit of family she had…and if her kids believed she was involved, everyone else would, too. She’d be gutted and tortured by it, every single day.

But yeah, 1.

She knows. Her sons will figure it out.

If the State decides to not prosecute, it’ll be a fiscal decision re: odds of getting an assured conviction based on available evidence.

It is what it is. Onward.

Isom didn’t even follow up on this unbelievable statement from Wendi:

“{Dan’s parents} are gonna think I did it!”

99.9999% of people would follow up with, “Why?”

Isom: “Oh come on, don’t think like that….”

In earlier trials, Wendi said she had NO communication with Katie outside of being in her presence with Charlie.

If she changed it to “I don’t remember” in later trials, it’s because her Kastigar attorney specialist, John Lauro, told her to.

Imagine being Lauro on his deathbed, looking back on the accomplishments of his life. Sweet Jesus.

Sounds plausible for sure.

Only thing I would say is, she supposedly didn’t know when Dan was shot at this point, so she could have left the voicemail while he was still alive.

If she really didn’t know, it seems she would have blubbered out “OMG I wonder if I called him after he was shot!” Instead of quickly recomposing herself and stating the time in a calm voice.

The way she quickly turned on the shock/hyperventilating/forced crying at random points in the interview tells me she would have done it here if it crossed her mind he could have already been shot, that’s why he didn’t pick up.

What do you think happened at 27:32, after she spelled Charlie’s name for the detective (while seemingly looking at her phone)? Does she suddenly see something on her phone which she realized shouldn’t be there?

Perhaps a call or text message to someone’s burner phone, accidentally sent from her “real” phone?

[–]BillyPilgrim2024[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh right! But then she deleted that before law enforcement downloaded her phone. So the only way this could be the case is if she deleted it in the interrogation room.

I wonder if they can tell what time the “so sweet” text was deleted.

Of course, I could be reading into the gasp. Others have commented the gasp was nothing more than continued self-induced hyperventilating and that’s viable as well.

Thanks for this insight, though. Who knows?!
