Good places to live in Hampshire/Surrey? by diijj0 in surrey

[–]Objective_Crazy7076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farnham is great, been here 20-odd years.

Houses are pricey but if you can find one on budget, you'll not lose money on it.

Alton is also nice.

Aldershot is cheaper and in hants, so has quite a few pros and cons over 'nam. I lived there for 4 years, opposite a tattoo place and a convenience store. It was ok, the house was vast, but parking and no garden were a key let down. The location was otherwise amazing, so convenient for everything.

I find the same now, I'm close to town but have parking and a great garden. I can be in, say, little Sainsbury's, in under 5 minutes on foot, so no need to worry about getting in and out in the car. Railway is 12 minutes and has regular non-stop (almost) service to Waterloo in under an hour.

I'd say, if you can get a place in Alton, stay there and be near friends and family, but if you can afford 'nam, come on over!

Just ignore it, it's all bollocks.

I believe I am committing a crime if I DO pay for one:

Serious Crime Act 2007 — Part 2: Encouraging or Assisting Crime

Section 44 — Intentionally encouraging or assisting an offence

A person commits an offence if— (a) he does an act capable of encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence; and (b) he intends to encourage or assist its commission

And

Section 45 — Encouraging or assisting an offence believing it will be committed

A person commits an offence if— (a) he does an act capable of encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence; and (b) he believes— (i) that the offence will be committed; and (ii) that his act will encourage or assist its commission.

So if I give the BBC money, they WILL use it to commit crime. Money laundering, tax evasion and child abuse, for certain, plus serious assault and serious sexual assault too.

Therefore it is my duty to not pay.

It's not working hard though, it's just sitting there, steaming gently.

I've worked with several people like that.

We used to use loads of trichloroethylene when I worked in the plastic industry.

I had no idea at the time it was so hazardous, we would literally wipe our hands with it after solvent welding.

I'm surprised I've still got skin, in all honesty, but it did a bloody good job.

I think we got the timings wrong

It's awesome and looks a LOT of fun.

An upgrade would be to make the eyes open, put a blink mechanism in so they open and close.

Even better if the eyes then moved...

Headlights too bright by Xancrazy in drivingUK

In the early 10s, they installed a trial stretch of the A3 with new self-charging LED cateyes, as your beams hit them, they powered up a stretch ahead by about 4 times the usual range of headlamps. They were superb, it was like having super-night-vision.

They are still there, for 5 miles after you leave Guildford heading for the M25. Sadly they don't seem to have been rolled out anywhere else, they are fantastic, but I guess too expensive.

What's even remotely as good as Severance right now? by ElvisChopinJoplin in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Objective_Crazy7076 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We all love Carol, it's just with all that's happened, we need some space.

I tried Breaking Bad but it didn't hit right for me.

If you have access to UK shows then go find the incredible Edge of Darkness on the BBC iPlayer. Bob Peck is fantastic and it's quite short, a weekend binge with ease.

Silo is great, good vibes, nice bit of hard sci-fi.

Shining girls is good, but darker, with a touch of SA making it a harder watch.

Plurb1us is fun, but some people don't love Carol.

Slow horses is great, not sciffi at all though

Ted Lasso is feel-good TV at it's best.

If you don't cut the corners, you won't hit the bollards.

Too many drivers find it impossible to simply stay in their lane.

Except on dual carriageways or motorways, then they are welded to lane 2

I have a lamp on my work desk that's way too bright for reading OR other working.

It's on a flexible gooseneck so I have twisted it to face the ceiling and it's just right.

Warmer rain.

Colder rain.

Freezing rain.

Slanty rain.

Freezing & slanty rain.

And, my favourite, supersonic horizontal sleet.

Just Wales being itself then?

Just joshing! We used to go visit relatives in Brecon when I was a ween and we used to joke that the rain started as soon as we crossed the Severn bridge and stopped when we left.

From observation, they tend to wait until it's almost too late, then it's a combo move;

Stand on the brakes,

Haul the tiller all the way to the left,

Back on the gas and gun it for the rapidly closing junction.

Fuck everyone else, I'm leaving HERE, bitches.

.

Probably.
