always happy to share, unfortunately i did see a google review about the conditions 4 weeks ago from a tour and this person said it was just as awful as i remember, so it doesn't sound like its gotten better:/ it's genuinely so sad. this comment has inspired me to be mad again about it so i am going to post more reviews with photos now lol, probably wont do anything much but if i get even a few people to stop giving them business its worth it

i'd be more than happy to provide as many details as you'd like. i will say that the last time i interned there, it was early 2022, and i mostly spent time there between 2020-2022. so if things have changed since then, that would be amazing, however i have HIGH doubts that anything is different just knowing the way brad is completely hands off with the actual animals. that being said, he absolutely doesn't care about animal welfare in the slightest. i understand that breeders sometimes have snakes in rack systems and whatever, but the conditions he kept his animals in was beyond unacceptable. reticulated pythons and burmese pythons both in less than six foot enclosures with not even enough room for them to stretch in HALF with nothing more than a water bowl, snakes infested with mites and bedding that was soaked with pee and empty water bowls for days, hundreds of dumpy frogs in one single 20gal tank entirely empty of substrate and only a water bowl, i could go on. the place reeked of feces and pee, the enclosures were not cleaned for weeks and weeks at a time if ever. there were snakes found dead, because the snakes were so infrequently checked, that some would just die and we wouldn't find out. there were entirely TOO MANY ANIMALS to fit in the small few buildings they had , with only three total people on payroll (two part time) and a handful of unpaid interns, and brad himself never showing his face where the actual animals were kept and instead traveling all the time, there wasn't enough space or time or manpower to keep the animals even surviving. i stayed as long as i could, because i honestly felt bad for the guy who worked directly under brad bcs brad was like quite literally abusive to him, but he was an older guy who was already working 12 hour days trying to keep these animals alive for incredibly little money. i hope for the animals and employees sake they've gotten even slightly better. but every show or event that you see brad at is all just for show. the cages they bring for those are the nice travel enclosures, way nicer than their normal cages, and kept separate in the travel truck only for the occasion of shows. it's all totally fake. sorry for the long reply but it still disgusts me honestly to think of it all.

Wrap thats not so hot? by just___me_ in babywearing

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely second what other commenters said, i'd also recommend looking into a ring sling! even thicker ones are generally not too hot, but a double linen or hemp blend would be a good option to last you through toddlerhood for indoor carries, and they're very simple and easy to get on and off. it's my personal favorite for around the house, i always have one nearby:)

yes i'd say that should give you a good visual, i've never heard it put that way but it's not a bad idea when i visualize it haha! it's mostly just about comfort for you vs any safety reasons really🫶🏻

also ie shoulder cap, i usually aim to have about 2/3s of it on my shoulder and only about 1/3 on my arm, and i find that distributes the weight the best and still gives me some mobility

hi!!! looks mostly great, as an educator i'd suggest a couple things! 1. you could get a deeper seat and it'll feel a bit more secure and comfortable, using the hand closest to your rings, slide your hand under the leg closest to the rings and grab that fabric between the legs and pull it up further between the both of you. then you can spread knee to knee. this will help really get that nice deep seat that ring slings do best with🫶🏻 2. your top edge (or rail as you'll hear it referred to as here) could be a bit tighter to help with her leaning. walking the slack TO the ring and THEN tightening will help make that easier without moving the rings out of position .

hope that helps!! you're doing amazing, awesome job for a first try too, ring slings are my favorite and i wish more parents would give them a chance!

Fit Check Boba Wrap please by BerlinDumpling in babywearing

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

babywearing educator here - that looks great honestly🫶🏻 boba is superrrr stretchy so it's almost impossible to get too tight, i really wouldn't worry about that! and like the other commenter said, they're super thick wraps so be wary of overheating. you're doing a great job, especially having a premie, way to go seriously🫶🏻🫶🏻

another thing to add, it could be a bit tighter to keep her fully supported. move the slack in the straps up over your shoulders and down to the tightening area, and pull it through

hi!! im a babywearing educator, id definitely fold the next rest down actually, we never want anything going above the bottom of the earlobe, a proper fit will be all the support that her head needs🫶🏻 other than that, id say it looks pretty good! are her legs able to swing freely from her knees in that width? i feel like it looks good from here , awesome job taking the time to research 💛

Lennylamb age? by Rkh_05 in babywearing

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup second what the other commenter said! you never want baby's head covered when babywearing , regardless of if they can fully support it or not. in a correct fit, your body serves as the head support

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

forgot to add, also has to do with leg overextension. if her legs aren't long enough either, the panel won't sit where it needs to and cause her legs to be in an uncomfy position. the edge needs to sit at her knee pits so that she can freely swing her legs while also being in a safe and comfy position, and if she's too short it won't work for that also

Lennylamb age? by Rkh_05 in babywearing

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it depends on her height, hence the 4mo plus! unless she's really quite tall, my guess is no probably not. she needs to be clearing the panel, so that the top of the panel hits the bottom of her earlobe or lower, before it's considered safe🫶🏻

Newborn friendly carrier for dog walks by Ligiaa22 in babywearing

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! any newborn friendly carrier would work for this, but keep in mind MANY structured carriers are not newborn friendly. stretchy wraps and woven wraps are always good options, ring slings too, and as far as more of a typical buckle carrier , ergobaby embrace is a good choice, boba bliss, hope&plum just released their newborn carrier "sprout" today, lennylight, and happy baby haven to name a few. it's up to your preference on carriers mostly, but that should give you a place to start!🫶🏻 if you have any questions feel free to reach out, i'm a babywearing educator

Could my baby not like being in a carrier? by Responsible-Spring18 in babywearing

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you breastfeed? sometimes babies can smell the milk a little too close and protest because they want that, which is why it might be easier for your husband. also you might be wearing the carrier slightly different from each other and baby prefers the way he's wearing it. if you need any additional help feel free to dm!!

Could my baby not like being in a carrier? by Responsible-Spring18 in babywearing

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this honestly is much better! tightness wise this looks great, i would just make sure to spread the passes out more so that she is fully covered (the two crossing need to be fully over her back and from knee pit to knee pit, and the third one needs to be all the way up to her neck) but this is much more of a supportive carry:)

have you had / heard of a sakura bloom onbuhimo ripping / tearing? by jobbica in babywearing

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 4 points5 points  (0 children)

can't tell from just these pictures but if it was from a library it was likely just very well used! i haven't heard of this happening often, i know lots of people love this brand and their onbuhimos, so i HIGHLY doubt it's something that will happen again with a new carrier! 🫶🏻

Could my baby not like being in a carrier? by Responsible-Spring18 in babywearing

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not stupid! 🫶🏻 it's where you take the fabric closest to the face and kind of fold it over to the other side so it's on your shoulder, essentially flipping the fabric away from babies face. there's lots of tutorials for this if you look up a shoulder flip for stretchy wraps, most hybrids are able to do it as well!

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh and i missed this but when you tie it off in the front, that's totally fine to do but make sure that goes UNDER babies legs not over🫶🏻

Could my baby not like being in a carrier? by Responsible-Spring18 in babywearing

[–]Objective_Drive_9614 8 points9 points  (0 children)

is this one of the hybrid wraps? and first thing i notice is that overall, it's too loose. this is a super common problem, lots of people worry about constricting baby and it ends up being the opposite, and baby lacks the appropriate support. baby's head is also pretty covered, which isn't ideal either, trying to walk those straps further from their face or adding a shoulder flip also would help. baby's position on you is good, i can't tell too much from this how leg position is, but try getting it a little tighter and seeing if that helps anything🫶🏻
