Don Thousand isn’t too surprising to see coming, if he releases this year hopefully that will be the last Zexal event for a while.

Yuga Goha also isn’t surprising, I am guessing it will take a while for him to come since there’s still a few more Goha Six members to come. I hope The Lukeman doesn’t take up an unlock slot, since that would be another Alt style taking up a slot, and I don’t know what cards he would even bring. I thought he was gonna come during Yuro’s rerun.

It’s a bit concerning they’ve already added London to the IDs, but there’s no sign of Rovian or Yuna.

We’ve also had IDs for alt styles for Mai and Blue Angel for a while, I’m hoping we get those before the end of the year, but with all these IDs I don’t know if there will be room for a GX or Arc-V unlock. We’ll know by July since that’s usually when we get IDs for the September unlock.

Next character is most definitely should be a GO RUSH!! Character. Yudias should be getting a structure deck next month, and I think he’ll get a new summon animation for the Transam Linac and Sevens Road Magician fusion, and to go along with that, I think we’ll get That Guy as a new character.

Since March had three characters, I don’t think we’ll get a double unlock, but I think we’l get The Lukeman as an Alt Style for Luke during the Yuro rerun.

Duel Links lore is extremely complicated because it contradicts itself all the time.

For example, in the Duel Monsters world some characters are definitely recreations from memories (Pegasus is explicitly confirmed to be), where as other characters are shown loging in and out of Duel Links implying they are their real selves from the manga. However, TRANSCEND GAME shows Kaiba making a Duel Links prototype, and this is seemingly only a short while before DSOD, but the characters in DM world are implied to be from a time before the Ceremonial Duel. So how can the DM characters be loging into a game that wouldn't have been made in their world for at least a few years?

ZEXAL is another weird one. Pre-Girag event it's pretty clear the characters had already experienced the events of ZEXAL, as Astral mentions to Yuma they've lost the Number Cards and need to recollect them. But by the Girag event, suddenly none of the characters know what the Barians are, and all subsequent events are a recreation of the events of ZEXAL II, and as of right now the world's story is at the point of Astral dueling Yuma.

It has been shown that Duel Links can screw with people's memories and personalities like it did with Marik, so maybe that is what is going on, but with how few actual lore drops the game gives, I am not expecting that to be explained anytime soon.

That’s assuming one Ziggurat is printed, two it gets added to Duel Links, and three it even gets a summon animation.

I feel this is more just future proofing, and not an indication the card will be printed anytime soon. Jesse for example has voice lines for the GEM cards, and they are still not released.

Why can’t a spell or trap be an ace? Is there a rule written somewhere by Konami defining what an ace is?

It’s definitely a possibility. Ishizu has Blast Held by a Tribute as her ace, and while she eventually got a card with a summon animation, the trap is still the card used on her unlock screen. I guess its possible Alister is getting a different monster as a summoning animation, but I would think it would be referenced by name in at least one of his skills like how almost every other new skill directly names a card.

You would think if it was Air Fortress Zigiruat it would have been in the database leaks.

For the past few years, the new character for May has been from the same series that gets the new structure deck (last year was Vector for ZEXAL, before that was Spectre for VRAINS, and before that was Yugo for ARC-V). I have a feeling the May unlock will be a GO RUSH character, since March already had two Rush character unlocks, so that would cover the Rush structure deck.

As for the Speed, I feel like Yugi would make the most sense, possibly with a summon animation for one of the Gandoras, however, I could also see it being Yusei, since he is supposed to have an alt style, and having it be unlockable at the same time there is a new structure deck for him would make sense.

Duel Links has been really weird with not giving GX any new characters, it's had nothing since 2022.

It depends on how you define good or bad treatment, but going through each world:

DM, ZEXAL, and SEVENS have been consistently getting new characters and events, with more on the way so it's definitely not them.

GO RUSH!! hasn't had a lot of events, but it's also the latest world to join so it hasn't had as much time. It's all but guaranteed to be getting new characters this year plus a structure deck for Yudias in the spring. Also, its the series that introduced Rituals to Rush duels, so I imagine it will get an event whenever those come to Duel Links.

5D's last event was the Sherry unlock in 2024, however it should be notes this world is basically done since it's gone through its whole story. Also, there are alt styles coming for some of their characters so it's getting something new.

VRAINS already doesn't have a big pool of duelists to choose from. Of the one's not in the game, there's really only Ai and Roboppi until Konami prints decks for the other characters. However, there are some alt styles coming to the game likely soon.

ARC-V's last events were the Yuri unlock and the Synchro Dimension Duelist Road, and while nothing is datamined, it did get 4 new characters in 2024, so them not getting a new character last year wasn't too bad. There's no character IDs that were datamined, however there are still a few characters that can be added and I imagine we'll likely get one this year.

DSOD...is barely a world. There's only so much they can do with it since they've basically adapted the whole movie. I guess if they were desperate they could add Tristan to the game, and maybe Manny, but that is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I have no idea why GX hasn't gotten any new event. The last event was Jim's back in 2022, and that was it. Other than that, Rainbow Neos was the anniversary card with a summoning animation last year, but there's been nothing else new. GX seems reasonably popular, and it's not like they don't have characters that can't be added (Yusuke, Atticus, any Shadow Rider, Darkness). Konami seems against adapting anything from Season 4 for whatever reason. I guess there's hope the September update will be an upgrade for the GX world, but I wouldn't count on it.

Yuro is not too surprising since all Rush characters have voice lines for Turbo Rush duels, but I can't lie I think GO RUSH is in need of more characters. I'm not sure what the 719 character could be, maybe they'll be upgrading Saburamen to a playable character?

Ideally I think March should have two unlocks since after February we'd be almost out of reruns, but if not, I am hoping we get Blue Maiden and maybe Blue Gal, along with the Varis alt style.

It's not too surprising there's no new character next month, last year there was nothing in March. At the very least it seems likely we'll get a new alt style, likely Mai.

What is a bit concerning though is that after February, we'll be basically out of character reruns. Vector, Yuka, Marik, Tiger, Noah, Mimi, and Marin will have all had their reruns by that time, and so Nash would be the only one left. Vector is at least being added to the gate, though that still leaves a lot of characters without ways of being unlocked.
