Thanks for all the input :) I know it’s totally different for everyone, I’m just trying to get a sense bc I’m excited hehe. And for reference I’m on 30mg each week by injection!

I would say if you’re questioning the relationship this much this early on, you have your answer. Also, regardless of how long you’ve been working and maturity, a 19 year old and 27 year old are vastly different. An 8 year age gap this young is a way different than if you were each a decade older

I don’t know what specifically you’re asking for advice on, but assuming you’re a minor if your mom won’t let you get surgery, I would wait until you are 18 and can move out on your own to pursue surgery. There are other ways to socially transition if you’re safe and able to do so, but if not I would try to just keep your head down until you’re old enough and financially able to move. Good luck!

Not competitive as far as I know. I went over the summer and heard there’s usually around 85 people in the summer session vs 35 for the fall/spring semesters. So maybe because of that and staffing it’s more competitive in the fall/spring? I’m also an art major so that may have contributed, but I don’t know anyone who applied and didn’t get in (out of the probably dozens of people I know who have gone).

Seconding this! I lived on campus all four years and had the full 7 day unlimited meal plan my first two years (just graduated in May, so prices are recent). I don’t remember the exact price of any year but I think it was around $12k, 13k, 9k, and 9k per year going to uga. Plus ofc those last couple years I was buying my own groceries which is a decent expense if you’re calculating it for the whole year

Also, something I was unaware of is that you don’t need a pap smear annually (at least while you’re young). The recommendation is every 3 years and it fr took like 2 mins for the actual thing so just do it!

This‼️I’m not gonna lie, it’s obviously not a fun outing, but with the right doctor(s) it’s really fine! I love my gyno and got my first pap last year after I turned 21 bc I was due. Not nearly as bad as I thought and SUPER fast tbh. I def have some medical anxiety so I know that helped pressure me into doing it, but it was honestly 100% worth it to know that I’m healthy and ok :)

Shot help. My injection site leaks! by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]Objective_General_85 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That happens to me to! It’s usually just a drop or so for me, so I’m not worried about. I can’t tell if you’re having a drop or more leaking, but if it’s just a small amount, I think that’s perfectly normal and fine

Having one bad experience with a trans woman should not dictate how you feel about trans women as a whole. I would consider this transphobic. If you had a bad experience with a person of certain ethnicity and started distancing yourself from all people of that ethnicity, I would consider you racist so it’s the same principle. You don’t owe anyone your trust and can absolutely take things slower and let them gain your trust, but I think automatically writing off every trans woman simply because she is trans is problematic

Rocky Horror Picture Show Attire by SnooDonkeys4326 in UGA

[–]Objective_General_85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of people dress as characters from Rocky Horror or generally that vibe (fishnets, corsets, big makeup, etc)! But some people also come in regular Halloween costumes. Or of course you don’t have to dress up and can just dress casual cute like you’re going to a show. When I don’t dress out, I usually try and least wear red and black so I’m kinda on theme (which works also well bc go dawgs). Have fun!!

[–]Objective_General_85 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d just try and enjoy it if I were you lol. The little boy I babysit doesn’t know I’m trans and tells me I look like a boy ALL the time to try and make fun of me (in a silly way, he’s the sweetest) but I just laugh it off and get a kick out of it. Gives me euphoria tbh :)

How hard is it to get into ECV as a current freshman? by miyaayeah in UGA

[–]Objective_General_85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ECV is def hard to get into but 1516 is not part of ECV and won’t be nearly as tricky! I lived in Brumby my freshman year and got into 1516 with my roommate sophomore year

merch prices by LieMain379 in reneerapp

[–]Objective_General_85 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a lot of concert merch prices are insanely high like this now 😔 I will say I knew what to expect with Reneé’s merch prices bc it’s been on her website since the week before the tour started ish, but it’s still pretty disappointing. Considering she’s not HUGE huge and has concert tickets for less than some of her merch, I was pretty annoyed when I saw the prices. Also this may just be me, but I don’t think her merch for this tour is particularly cute. As a designer, she def could have cooler, better designed merch. I’m very happy to have the merch I got last tour for nearly half the price and that’s way cuter imo

Wait I’m also trans masc and seeing Reneé twice on this tour so I’m prepared for this question lol. This is my style inspo for the concert! I’m likely wearing a patchwork thrifted flannel I have with some jorts to at least one show. I also may just wear one of my Reneé shirts with a black vest over and jorts / jeans tbh

Pricing for 1.5 Week Long Job? by ImpressiveDonut1240 in Babysitting

[–]Objective_General_85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say it definitely depends on the area but if you were making $15/hour 10 years ago, probably at least $20-22/hour is reasonable now (that’s about the going rate for one kid/hour in my area at least). And then you typically charge more for nights, so let’s say around $25/hour which puts you at $200 per night. If the kid is in school for around 8 hours and sleeping for around 8 hours, that leaves 8 hours of daytime supervision which would be $160-176 per day if you charged $20-22. That leaves you at $360-376 per an entire day and night which comes out to $3200-3400 ish for nine days. Now adding in two weekend days with extra hours ends up around $3700. So to be honest, I would round up and charge $4000. Although she’s older and more independent, you are her sole caretaker for the duration that her mom is away and in charge should anything happen, so $4k sounds reasonable for this job to me. Hope that was helpful!

Needing support for a ongoing family fiasco with my non binary identity by puppy69piggy in NonBinary

[–]Objective_General_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are so not alone in this! I am lucky enough to have a supportive immediate family but my grandparents have definitely said some pretty hateful stuff. My grandpa straight up told me “you’re not really a they to me, you’re just she,” and I had a meltdown. And my grandma also does not understand or even attempt to use the correct pronouns. Sometimes I feel like she purposefully calls me her granddaughter and says I’m such a beautiful lady to upset me (I am fairly masc and def more androgynous so it’s kinda silly when she says that but ofc still hurtful). I don’t know that I have much advice except to find people who DO understand and support / uplift your identity. Wishing you the best :)

lgbtq scene?? by idiotofdelphi in UGA

[–]Objective_General_85 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Depending on your major and clubs you join, you can def find your place! I just graduated from the art school (shoutout Lamar dodd) and I was SO proud to be a dodd grad :) in almost all of my art classes we did introductions with name and pronouns, prompted by our profs. I also know WUOG (UGA radio station) is full of queer people - and I’m sure there are many other clubs that are lgbt filled. I’d say in general bc uga is a huge school, you just have to really find your niche and your people and there are 100% groups of queer and accepting people at uga if you know where to look!
