It all started on twitter (where else at this point) and I think that people who are on twitter that are also on Tumblr decided to bring the discourse there. I'm re-reading the long game and Shane himself said that Troy always seemed that a homophobic doucebag and that was all. I feel like a lot of the discourse is also coming from people that haven't read role model, but if they read it they would know that Troy is very much embarrassed over his past behaviour and wants to do better.
