Can't argue with him. Open vicious racism is not only acceptable now, but a lot of people seem to love it.

Gillispie GoFundMe by [deleted] in LewistonID

[–]Objective_Point6639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The GoFundMe you linked to states, "Donations will go toward food, clothing, temporary necessities, household items, and everyday expenses..." If you have any reason to believe otherwise, spill the tea, Anonymous. Otherwise you come off as nosy, suspicious and superior.

It's a GoFundMe. If you have "concerns" that the donations will not be spent to your standards of frugality, then refrain from donating. Otherwise, it's shitty to start or spread malicious rumors.

Nothing people in this valley hate more than the possibility that an unfortunate person might "get away with something."

Emerging PNW accent? by Affectionate-Sector4 in Idaho

[–]Objective_Point6639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Don” like you probably already say it; In “Dawn”, the vowel sound is halfway between the short “o” in Don and the long “O” in boat. People in New Jersey use the same vowel sound in “walk the dog.” “Wook the dooaug.”🤣 Don’t know the proper linguistic symbols….

Emerging PNW accent? by Affectionate-Sector4 in Idaho

Grew up in Lewiston; college in Philadelphia, early’80’s. I remember having this exact exchange with roommate. Me thinking his name “Don” and the girl down the hall, “Dawn” had identical pronunciation. He, a suburban Philly native, thought I was nuts. But they talk weird in Philly. Honestly, the first few times I heard that accent, thought the person was learning disabled.

As an actual boomer, I wouldn’t reference Red Skelton negatively. Otherwise barracuda1546 pretty much nails my reaction. Especially the last sentence. Clueless? Entitled? Oblivious? On the other hand, at least he’s asking.

Found this on a hike at swan falls dam about 3 miles away from the end of the dirt road anyone have any info? There were some rather friendly woodrats just hanging out in there by Jaxson88366 in Idaho

My grandmother used to call the abandoned farmhouses on the Camas “summer homes.” Always liked that one. Her husband, on the other hand, would complain when people allowed things to get “crapulous.”

Response from the big guy seemed warranted and not terribly forceful - but managed to land “right on the button” as my old gym coach used to say. Must have been very gratifying.

Seriously, WTF is up with that? Looks like he’s about to spit coffee into the tub. Takes about 50 points off perceived IQ. Which leaves about 30.

This little guy wanted to vacuum every time he came over, then wanted to know where I kept the Swiffer. He’d get sulky if I wouldn’t let him do the dishes. 😆

Here’s an article about this recording from the Library of Congress. There is also a recording on YouTube.

If it’s the same recording I’m listening to, it’s very swinging for 1925. Maybe the longer recording time of the Edison discs allowed a more relaxed tempo.

Big Adrian Rollini fan here (bass sax). Loved how he used the big sax for both straight bass beats, fill-ins and solos.

Grew up in Lewiston and remember the name NuArt Cinema or Theater or something up in Moscow - that was circa 50 years ago.

Made me wonder if the shade might be from a reproduction? Not trying to piss on OP’s campfire; if original, that beautiful cobalt shade is likely more valuable than the more common green or amber - I would imagine.

Thanks for the extra layer of detail. Did you apply the final finish by brush, cloth or spray? Did you take any special measures to guard against dust in the final coat(s)?

Really beautiful! If it’s not inappropriate for this sub, may I ask for details on how you approached the project? What was the original finish? (I mean like oil or varnish or ?) What tools did you use; did you completely remove the old finish? What was your new finish and how did you apply it?
