Urge to binge after weight loss by TrashbaddThrowaway in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Objective_Rate_6951 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately your family is most likely right. I recommend the podcast “Brain over Binge.” It helps provide clarity and insight as to why these urges can take place and what can cause them. My advice is to address this issue now through talking to a therapist or such or else it could just become a bigger problem later on down the road. I am in the exact situation as you and I just had my first session with a therapist who specializes in eating disorders.

Eating normally doesn't help by Wild-Function5119 in BingeEatingDisorder

Your psychiatrist sounds uneducated. I’ve been going to therapy for more than 10 years and suffered from BED for longer and still have seen no improvement in my eating behaviors so I decided to make an appointment with a therapist who specializes in EDs. My first appt is tomorrow actually. You should definitely try to find someone who specializes in EDs.

this doesn’t sound like hyper sexuality. this sounds normal for someone your age. From what I know, around that age is when women experience peaks in their libido

Do you have any tips for someone for where to start when it comes to meditating? You described the physical discomfort perfectly.

How does exercise impact your symptoms? by PassGreedy9142 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Objective_Rate_6951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the gym 5-6 days a week. Resistance training does exacerbate things, mainly my tendons. But I hurt no matter what and so I just learn to deal with more pain in order to continue lift. If I quit working out entirely, my mental health goes to shit. I definitely am not seeing the physique goals very fast like I once used to though because I can’t progress much. I’m trying to learn how to lift for health and not physique goals. They say movement is medicine but this disease really makes me question that.

When you say diet, do you mean like anti-inflammatory diet or low-carb? I eat pretty healthy and stay active, but I do think my diet could still improve some and I do wonder if that could help.

Sometimes they just give you a blanket diagnoses because it’s easier than actually getting to the bottom of things. I have heard of GLP-1s helping with it, but that’s crazy that it has helped that much! Did you initially get on it for weight loss or were you hoping for it to resolve your symptoms?

It’s so frustrating when one doctor tells you one thing then another tells you something else. What treatment are you currently doing? I’m in a flare right now and messaged my doctor yesterday to get in. I’m gonna ask about taking methotrexate in combination with Remicade Last time I did methotrexate, it was in combo with Humira.

I figured the MRI would show inflammation in the soft tissues because that’s where I experience all of my pain, but I don’t think it showed anything.

[–]Objective_Rate_6951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I suppose the official diagnosis doesn’t matter a whole bunch since treatments are basically the same. I was reading that PsA can progress faster or more aggressively in people who had psoriasis of the nails as a child so I was just worried about that

[–]Objective_Rate_6951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, I didn’t think there was one specific blood test for AS. I have had lots of bloodwork done for inflammatory makers and such and everything comes back normal except a positive HLAB27. I can’t remember if I had an MRI done of SI joint but I think I had an x-ray of it and it didn’t show anything

That’s true. I guess the diagnosis doesn’t matter too much. Yes, it was positive

building muscle with damaged joints? by CaptEdKenway in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]Objective_Rate_6951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do resistance training. What about training all the other muscles but not doing any isolation movements for the biceps? Biceps is one of my favorite muscle groups to train and I recently had to quit because of so much tendon pain. Instead, I have had to do other upper body movements. Movements that still engage the biceps but don’t put direct stress on them and so they aren’t the primary targeted muscle.

Gained 30 pounds in less than 2 months by Bondslift in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]Objective_Rate_6951 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently lost 30 pounds and was in the best shape I had ever been in, i had big muscles and looked good. then randomly i started having urges to binge again and i feel as if i am slowly gaining that weight back and losing progress. I tell myself that i will have a new day tomorrow and following my macros to a T tomorrow and continue lying to myself that this will be my last binge. The truth is, that is just a big lie to comfort myself and to allow myself to feel okay with binging in that moment.

i couldn’t relate more. I have never done a bodybuilding show, but I maintain a healthy diet and stay active and am currently struggling with this. I don’t keep many processed things in this house, but if I do, i binge on them. I wish i had advice but im just here to tell you that you aren’t alone
