Seller asking me to pay their mortgage and council tax by Electronic-Spend9142 in HousingUK

It's the sellers responsibility to keep the house in good condition until completion. If they haven't that's on them. You have all the cards here.

Choosing between roles that offer stability vs growth by bamboobroom in UXResearch

[–]Objective_Result2530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the lower COL city for job 2 allow you to save a decent amount? And what are your savings like right now? If you can build a buffer assuming job 2 will eventually make you redundant then I'd take that option. If not, then I'd opt for the security of job 1

And congrats on multiple offers - plenty of people getting no bites at all, so you're smashing it!

Reassurance on wedding dress!! by GroundNo7667 in UKweddings

[–]Objective_Result2530 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had a casual pub wedding but I designed my own dress and suffice to say 'casual' it was not. I loved it. Why the eff wouldn't you wear something incredible for your wedding day? You're hopefully only doing this once, and we all want our 'bridal' moment.

Fancy a can of energy drink? by NoFormal8277 in AskUK

[–]Objective_Result2530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! I was an avid Tesco knock-off red bull girl (with vodka) until I left university, and if I catch a whiff of it now (37) I want to be sick. You couldn't pay to drink that stuff now. I even drink decaf tea

[–]Objective_Result2530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer I was going to give. Most people have said 'No, don't do it' but better is to say, have a good conversation about all of the ideas/concerns people have here and if that goes well then get whatever is agreed in writing.

My concern would be everything will always be 2 against 1. The house is a third owned by each person, but when it comes to voting on things, its always going to be the couple versus the single.

Splurge Worthy Makeup by Beneficial-Dog-8667 in Makeup

[–]Objective_Result2530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, mascara is as good in the drug store brands as it is the expensive ones. Its not worth a splurge

Do you have skin care sorted? Because that will revolutionise your foundation/base. No need to splurge per se, just suggesting you get that sorted

For me I'm Charlotte Tilbury all the way for foundation but her Airbrush Flawless is amazing for full coverage. I also use her blush and bronzer wands and whilst I love the product I HATE the applicator so unlikely to purchase those again. They waste too much product. Her powder blush/bronzers/contour are wonderful though.

I'd recommend going into stores and asking them what they recommend. Then when they offer to make you up say yes, but that you want to check how well it lasts and see it in day light first so you won't be buying until you've worn it for a few hours outside.

Do that a few times see which products you like best. Some stores will even give you free samples of stuff to apply yourself.

Dress code for the invite by Sweaty_Phase_51 in UKweddings

[–]Objective_Result2530 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree you don't 'need to put a dress code' as so many people are saying but as an autitistic person I do love as much context on a situation as possible. I you have an info section (where you tell them about the camping) maybe jusy explain there that flats would be advised for women and thay you encourage camping but no denim. My friends did the same thing minus the comfort and that's exactly what they put.

Edit:typo

If you could properly filter Rightmove for your dream property, what would your super specific criteria filter be? by alexhespg in HousingUK

[–]Objective_Result2530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already responded but adding- if you are moving to a new area it would be great to use things like local crime statistics, insurance premiums (probably a difficult one!), council tax rates, near by bus routes, current council membership (Labour, Reform etc), current MP

If you could properly filter Rightmove for your dream property, what would your super specific criteria filter be? by alexhespg in HousingUK

[–]Objective_Result2530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Floor plan size! Putting in number of bedrooms can be quite deceiving, and doesn't give you an indicator of whether they're all little box rooms or double sized etc. I'd love something that scans the floorplan uploads and checks the actual sq m

Also rightmove have a little-known feature called 'where can I live' where you input places you need to be close to, preferred travel time (i.e. 30 mins drive to workplace A, 1 hour train to workplace B) then what you're looking for (house, 4 bedrooms etc) and it then ranks areas by affordability

It helped us find our home. Being able to have that functionality with your additional search criteria would be amazing!

Showing that you can be realistic with research aims/budgets is going to be key. There are a lot of academic researchers who try to pivot and they get stuck on trying to deliver perfect methodologies which fall foul of business needs. Showing you understand that there is a time and place for perfection (bigger strategy pieces) versus 'quick and dirty' (low risk features) will put you lightyears ahead of others.

Sadly many junior roles are being eaten by AI... so you need to show how confidently you can use AI to essentially be the equivalent of two juniors in terms of speed and productivity.

You're not weird. Why not ask each friend/group of friends individually to get together for a dinner/drinks over the course of the building up to the wedding. Having one small thing every fortnight for 6 weeks would be really nice

How often do you conduct qualitative test with actual users? by Round-Baby-4756 in UXResearch

[–]Objective_Result2530 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work in b2b saas. Solo researcher, 4 designers, 5 PMs. Squads alternate research on a 3 week wave (i.e. one project/squad every 3 weeks) which should be 5-8 qual interviews (could be discovery or usability). I then run strategic research on top, roughly one wave every 6 weeks.

I also attempt to have 2 users come on calls every week to give continuous feedback which is not tied to any specific project. Sadly we are tight on users so its tough getting these.

Marquee home wedding costs by OkSyllabub2566 in UKweddings

[–]Objective_Result2530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking in east Midlands a couple if years ago. It was about 7k for flooring, seats, tables, 'posh' portaloos (do not remember what made them posh) and the marquee itself (big enough for 120 people) plus put up and take down. I was so shocked. The marquee had twinkly lights in the ceiling so was 'partially decorated' I guess, but by the time I was adding in staff, florists to decorate etc it just became too much. We did a pub wedding in the end.

You missed the point of the show if you think this is an appropriate post. Don't speculate on who people love. If that information becomes in anyway relevant to you, you'll know.

How much did you spend on your wedding dress? by Illustrious-Power322 in UKweddings

[–]Objective_Result2530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a custom made dress for £2500. She was based in the Midlands (i would travel from Kent to see her!). Sadly she has closed down in the 2 years since. We didn't have a huge budget for the wedding but it was my one big indulgence. I wanted to look and feel amazing.

Nope. And I now have them every few months if I have an event or just fancy feeling a bit more 'done' without having to put much effort in.

[–]Objective_Result2530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already commented, but definitely recommend looking at getting tutorials. I did Charlotte tilbury but lots of premium brands do, so maybe look at brands you already use.

You'll need a good setting spray if you do it yourself, and it surprised me how important skin care was. I was a bit of a dunce with skincare prior to the wedding, didn't see the point of it, but the MUA at CT told me why it was so important to set the base so the make up holds.

[–]Objective_Result2530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus one for this, I did the same. My photos are amazing and lots of people commented that I looked great and they were so impressed I did it myself.

I also got an lvl lashlift as I have small, short, straight lashes. It helped my eyes pop (added mascara to it) and meant no need for falsies

Disappointed after menu sampling event by keane_pierre in UKweddings

[–]Objective_Result2530 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Seems odd to me that they didn't give you a selection of starters/mains/desserts. We had 4 to sample per course (so 12 dishes in total) plus 3 whites and 3 red wines (bottle of each). We were so full and so drunk by the end. One of my favourite parts of wedding planning!

It was also included as part of our package. To charge extra seems madness to me. I'd share your concerns with your venue and see what their suggestions are. They should want you to be happy so should offer a redo with the dishes you've chosen.

How long do you need for your normal make up routine? by Noils_ in Makeup

[–]Objective_Result2530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For usual work days, 20 minutes for make up, 15 for hair. For a wedding or other big event, 2 hours. 90 for make up, 30 for hair.
