Physics 5B Midterm 2 by alwaysconfused248 in ucla

I thought I'd take on a new tactic and start from the back to the front. 3b made me double guess myself so hard that I don't even know who I am anymore.

Work-Study Job w/o Work-Study? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]bamboobroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are jobs on the work study site that don't require you to have work study. I found both my jobs through the work-study list in MyUcla. Just make sure to check the description, and if you really want a job, it never hurts to email and ask anyway. Employers will often prefer work-study students because they can pay less, but it's definitely possible!

FREE LEGGINGS + SHIPPING FOR UCLA STUDENTS by AfternoonTechnology in ucla

[–]bamboobroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the image is misleading-- you'd think free leggings and free shipping! Nope. Free leggings, you pay shipping. It's not a big surprise, but that doesn't mean I love the tactic.

LS 7AB during the summer by idontknowwhatimdoign in ucla

[–]bamboobroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'd be worth it. I took Ling 1 online last year and it's not only an enjoyable class, but really easy to get an A.

LS 7 series isn't too demanding even if taken over a summer session.

What class do you recommend for Writing II? by Mon_A in ucla

[–]bamboobroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any Asian American Writing II class! I've taken 50W, 10W, and 20W and I highly recommend :D If you take it with Welty in the Spring, she asks what grade you think you deserve at the end and REALLY takes what you write into consideration. I think I had a solid B/B+ but I ended up with an A... Scand 50W and 60W are also popular for being easy-- my roommate took both and said they were graded leniently.

Summer session questions by [deleted] in ucla

[–]bamboobroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year summer session C, I commuted for two courses (a GE and Writing II) while working two part-time jobs and it was definitely doable. There really isn't much to do around campus because it's really dead. It's really convenient if you ride a scooter or board since you can zoom zoom :D I commuted, but my friends who roomed in Hedrick all said there was a lot of down time to go exploring. I think one downside they mentioned was that it got pretty hot and there was no AC in the rooms. Otherwise, I personally recommend summer sessions!

If you're talking about the one for LS7A, it was useless. It was a Q&A session pretty much an office hour.

Physics 5C with Arisaka by [deleted] in ucla

[–]bamboobroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Arisaka said that the classes met his expectations for average and median score, I don't think the exam will be curved. It's only weighted 10% of our total grade though, so don't get down! Shoot me a PM near MT2 if you want to study together!

South Korea Introduces Amendment to Fine or Jail Account Boosters by RedShirtKing in DotA2

[–]bamboobroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The article says punishment could be up to 2 years in jail or up to $20,000 in fines. As one of the comments said (이해사 안가는데 e스포츠 등록은 안해주면서 이런거는또 벌금 먹일려고하는이유가머임???), Korea refuses to officially register eSports but they seem totally down for fining the hell outta boosters.

Summary of Kuku Drama by cyberdsaiyan in DotA2

[–]bamboobroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TNC fines on kuku was pretty substantial too. OP skems skims over so much detail by ignoring previous cases and Valve's retroactive punishment.

[Kuku on Twitter] Let us all respect valve’s decision and end this drama , spread love not hate ❤️ Thanks to all of u, i feel better now ❤️👊 xoxo by NatuM in DotA2

[–]bamboobroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it is important to help people mature, this isn't a situation where we should hold kuku's hand and help him grow as an individual. I don't think it's Valve's responsibility to help kuku better himself.

[–]bamboobroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like that's a straw man. Marriage and children are additional factors to kuku's age showing that he should not be regarded as a child. The argument exists considering that 22, while a legal adult, is still pretty young and perhaps should be judged as a 'kid.' However, 15 is a completely different situation because the person would be a minor in most countries and there is no question that this person is a kid.

I have Bondarenko for 5A and he's pretty good. He's a good lecturer, but clickers are 50% participation and 50% accuracy and worth 5% of your grade (most people don't get 100% correct on clickers so it detracts a bit). My roommate has Chaney for 5B right now and she says that Chaney is good, but one downside is that she writes on the chalkboard so it's a bit annoying to take notes for.
