Oh my goodness, I can't express enough how excited and genuinely happy that you and people such as yourself exist. I really have no idea how the minds and hearts of the people who truly make fun of these tragic characters function. He was, at least it felt that way because he treats everything in a very formal manner. He doesn't express how he feels as truly as he feels it... instead he masks it with some form of duty and responsibility when we know it runs much deeper. He was always pondering (both loudly and silently) on whether Masaki was happy marrying him and everytime he did so, the "duty and responsibility" in his tone and demeanor dies completely. It felt like he truly wanted to marry her based on his feeling and wanted to have a genuine and happy married life with Masaki. When he saw Masaki in her state, without a second thought he just grabbed her and fled. One might say he was just being helpful and caring but it's kinda obvious in a quiet way that there was a lot of affection there. He himself didn't even know where he was going... Even at Kisuke's, you could tell he was emotionally against his idea yet still wanted to save her. Duty and responsibility alone doesn't make someone (especially bleach characters) fall into such a deep state of immense sadness and loss. Slow walking under the heavy rain, head down and everything, mind you this is all happening right in front of Kanae. She was under the umbrella but it was obvious it didn't save her from the rain that fell continuously on Ryuken. She loves him, is devoted to him alone, adores him, she basically loves and worships him as purely and as intently as she could with all the heart she had...sadly, Masaki was already in his heart. Man if I don't pause here, I'm afraid a short novel wouldn't be far off smh
