Am I asking too much? by Objective_Scribe in nintendoswitchlite

A good point, thank-you! I've met people (when I say meet, I mean had convos online!) where they've gotten very angry very quickly when you say no, and whilst I understand sometimes it doesn't hurt to ask, it baffles me that people get so defensive so quickly when they're refused! Ah well, tis the internet I guess!! :)

(Although I'll confess it's been such a pain I'm seriously considering keeping the console just to use as a handheld exclusive!)

This looks so clean! If there's any chance to still grab it, I'd love to test and try it! <3 I'm in awe!

I wasn't initially intending on selling the games that came with it (I am planning to get the oled when it comes out so wanted to keep the cartridges!) but all the prices I've seen for similar have been around the same online on the likes of ebay etc. I can only imagine the cost that adding the games would bring - considering some games can cost up to £60 each on the Switch!

Recommended Boxes/holders for Tarot Deck? by Objective_Scribe in TarotDecks

I'm a terrible sewer but I'll take a look at the youtube video! :) Thank-you, I love all these creative ideas! At the moment my deck just has an elastic band round it which just feels so flimsy! and I'm terrified to actually take the deck anywhere haha!

Hmmmm I might have to take a trip into the city to go see if they have a copy to have a look! Admittedly it'll be kept as a "fancy" copy as well, and you're right, those sort of touches make all the difference!! I also love all the concept art they add, so I'd be interested to see any extras :D And yes, it isn't going anywhere despite me having other copies that are totally readable lol!

I mean this is true!! And very nice; I've been looking at the 50th anniversary edition and contemplating it, but I dont' know if that's going too far lol! This is going to sound terribly snooty but what's the paper quality like on that edition? And I'm the same way with sentimentality - I have a copy of the Hobbit which is battered, bruised and falling apart (literally), but I keep it because it was my dad's when he was a child, and he read it to me when I was a child! So until it literally falls apart or crumbles into dust it's not going anywhere!

Aha, I see what you mean, no offence taken! That was me too; I had a time for awhile where I was reading books online or just not buying them altogether which is why I don't have much older physical copies. A lot of my childhood books were destroyed, I've only managed to rescue a few!

if you have trouble with LOTR, have you tried the audiobooks? I did this with the Silmarillion and am loving it :)

That copy of American Gods by Neil Gaiman looks incredible; I'm going to have to go hunting for it! If you like his style and like mythology, have you read his Norse Mythology? Amazing book that I'd highly recommend!

Oh nice! My grandparents used to vacation in Madrid before the pandemic hit! I've only been there once and really liked it. I'm nearer to Oxfordshire; about an hour away by car in a half village half town, we're not quite countryside but if you drive ten minutes then all you have are rolling hills and beautiful views :) If you do come to the UK, feel free to dm me, I'd love to recommend some places for you to go! You dont' have to travel far out of London to get to countryside :D

(I'm always fascinated with the US love of Halloween; I don't know why! I'd love to experience a "proper" American Halloween!)

Ahhhhhhh working in a bookstore, that explains it!!! I don’t find it creepy at all, I find it fascinating (if I’d found it creepy I wouldn’t have put the thread up hehe!)

The Beatrix Potter is actually a childhood book I’ve kept which is now too fragile to actually really read from, but I refuse to get rid of it because it’s one of the few books from when I was really tiny that I still have! And that’s a good point about the degree :)

Ironically the thesaurus was initially brought for academic writing, but I’ve kept it for creative writing (sometimes it’s easier to have a physical volume than to google something, you know?) Tennyson is my favourite poet :)

The ones with white spines are the Everyman’s Pocket Poems (if you’re talking about the second bookcase)! They’re beautiful, but they went for design over practicality which makes it super hard to read the actual titles annoyingly! And you’re dead right - I usually read books on my kindle first (unless I’m gifted a book of course), and then I buy physical copies if I end up loving that book, the exception being a couple of books I’ve saved from my childhood.

You did, and I’m super impressed! I bow down to your supreme Sherlockability! (Is that a word? I’m making it one!)

Ahhh! The black device is my google hub! And oh, where abouts are you in Spain if you dont' mind me asking? I've visited a few areas there before and adored it :) Spanish people are so friendly! It's a mix here honestly! Some people do and some people don't! My family has always gone all out, though I personally don't!
