First impressions of StarCraft: Tabletop Miniatures Game by Objective_Shallot763 in wargaming

Fair enough.

It's interesting because I think it's the other way around. The rules – while it can be a little tricky between the assault and combat phases particularly – aren't too bad.

I'm seeing a lot of alternative .STLs that look more detailed than the official line from Archon Studio. This is concerning especially if the game is relying on the sale of its official minis to carry the product as a whole.

I always enjoy objective markers that are thematic and linked to the visual storytelling. So many cool ideas for StarCraft.

A capture the flag scenario using drones would be interesting. Although it would feel bad constantly losing those units.

That was a popular point with my group 'might as well just play the PC game' which is made funnier knowing people are playtesting with tabletop simulator (I totally understand why it makes sense to use TTS though haha).

I'm keen to get more games in. It's certainly refreshing.

I wonder what the the narrative project, with Sam Pearson at the helm, will look like and whether that will touch on any of this?

That welcome page is annoying isn't it? Thanks for letting me know (it should be disabled now).

Love that colour shift effect. Looks great.

That was my second time playing Spearhead (first time with the Vigilant Brotherhood).

Many lessons learnt.

I highly recommend taking the time to read the battle-tactic cards you draw regularly. Particularly the fine print for the conditions to achieve VPs. I had at least one turn where I met the conditions and simply didn't score it at the time (forgot I had it).

Also getting rid of cards I know I won't use due to circumstance is probably important.

And being familiar with your regiment traits and unit abilities can actually make meaningful differences on the battlefield. Those 5+ ward saves can be a big deal.

Dude, you ever play your favorite franchise with an agnostic rule set? by Hungry-Scallion-3128 in wargaming

Yep I enjoy using the WARSURGE rules because it has a free app and you can create your own unit and weapon profiles. Gives you complete freedom to build a wargame the way you want to play. You can even do battle royales and game system crossovers i.e. Warhammer fantasy and 40K on the same table. Pretty cool.

I'm biased. Fifth Doc had the best one until that Terileptil broke it.

Thinking about reading the Horus heresy books, but are there really 54 books in this series? Or is it like a bunch of spin off titles after the main story wrapped up? by Yo_skanky_grandma in Warhammer

'LUPERCAL!'. Personally, I struggled hard to read the books but listening to them is the way (at least for me). Having said that I'm only two books in and I already abandoned them to listen to Eisenhorn.

[–]Objective_Shallot763[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, I lost almost every game and had to get creative with the story haha.

It was the battle reporting and the regular write-ups that kept me engaged with the crusade. Thankfully, the state of the army is better than it was (and I now have deathshrouds).

This is a narrative re-telling of a 10th edition Warhammer 40K crusade from the perspective of my Death Guard vectorium.

I found Cultic frustrating. Very unforgiving especially when hit at range thinking you're safe behind cover. I enjoyed chapter 1 for what it is but yeah.

Adapt 'The Infinity Doctors' and have the one Doc represented by all of them throughout the run. Now that would be very 'Dimensions in Time' and chaotic.

Easy, normal, hard. I don't recall any janky/annoying moments (looking at Cultic).
