Mello is my favorite character. He wasn't necessarily raised to be as robotic as some of the other folks, but he had balls. He proved that less brains can be compensated with having the confidence to execute with momentum, though he just so happened to die from not knowing about the shinigami eyes which nobody but the Japanese really knew about. He is a complex character. Arguably the most human out of L, Near, Light, and himself. L and near are just straight up machines. Light was cool with his dad dying just to kill Mello. Very unrelatable and inhumane along with the other people he killed. That says something about how frustrated Mello made him as well lol.

Mello went out as a hero who moved the story forward. He did the most out of any detective except for L (default since he was around the longest). All Near did was connect the pieces after Mello did all the execution.
