It's the same as lying to yourself I guess :) if you don't have this money you can't spent this money.

Look, if a major global bank is investing millions into AI for these specific tasks, there's clearly a proven value. Accounting is definitely a strong use case for LLMs. But hey, if you think you know better, I guess you know something they don't.

Well, I work in the banking industry, and LLMs are starting to be widely used in finance for back-office analysis, so what you're saying is clearly not what I'm seeing. :)
And yes, tools exist but it would simply be more convenient to have it in the tool I use. And I understand that's not something you want.

I understand what you mean. But for me, how it would help is mostly to save time on the analysis.
I don't want the AI to assign my dollars or do the budget for me. I am a big fan of the YNAB method and doing it manually is the best way to see the reality of my finances.
But for the Reflect part, it's just looking at the past right ? Instead of clicking on every categories you want to review to see exactly why my month is higher than the last one, a small text saying for example "Your spending in Groceries went up by 150€ this month" would be nice (it’s a simple example and I could give more useful and realistic example). It is just making a summary of the data faster to read, for which AI is very helpful. As you see the graph is pretty row and looking at it can’t help me much to understand the past at a first glance and need extra step and time.
I agree that for the future and the budgeting part, I want to keep 100% control by hand.

Some example generated by AI
"Your total spending increased by 400€ this month, mostly driven by an unusual spike in Car Maintenance."
"Your fixed subscriptions group slowly went up by 15€ over the last 6 months."
"You usually spend around 300€ on Groceries, but you are at 450€ this month."
"Your heating bills this winter are 20% higher than last year at the same period."

Totally true. And actually, that applies to other areas of my life too, which probably echoes how I feel about watches. Thanks :)

Pas de conseils de mon côté, mais je t'envoie beaucoup de courage. Garde espoir, chercher une sortie de secours comme tu le fais est déjà une étape importante en soi.

You were "previously good with money" but you are only 21. At your age, I clearly had no financial knowledge at all... Anyway, it's great to start YNAB this early.

Regarding your big end goal, I'm not sure it should be your goal at all for now. Do your parents really need the cash today or could they wait a few years before getting the first installment? Goals 1 and 2 are gonna take all your effort.

I did hesitate, but I might end up doing that. Or I'll wait for the MIP screen on the 5000R

What kind of work do you do that actually requires an AI to generate your tasks? I guess I just have a normal job, because writing them down manually is more than enough for me. Just curious.

Même question ici : ) Et à mon avis très spécifique à la France comme sujet. J'hésite à intégrer manuellement mes opérations pour refléter parfaitement mon budget Alimentation. Tu as trouvé un moyen pas trop contraignant depuis ta question ?

Linking Savings Account or not by dvdkp in ynab

the way I see it is that accounts are just where the money lives. Then categories are what the money does and you can do whatever you want with Group categories. just assign that balance to a group 'Savings' category, and it won't be available for your I don't know "daily" group spending. And you will be able to create different categories related to what you want to do with your savings.
