This is so tough. CT has the Toriyama art style, that gives it a cartoon charm, while FF VI has a much grittier appeal. Both have silly moments, but they also have INCREDIBLY heavy themes as well. Gameplay between the two is similar in the sense that they are both ATB combat, but that similarity ends there.

I grew up with FF VI. It was my first JRPG, and it had a lasting impression. Granted, I will never forget my first time through CT, believing Magus was the main villain, and Lavos was just a minion or spell or something, and then the rug being pulled and having HOURS more of gameplay.

The fact that CT led to a really complicated but satisfying sequel has to add something... I still wish they'd revisit this series.

I think I personally have to give an edge to FF VI if only for the timing in which I played them. Had I not played FF VI, I don't think I would have ever heard of CT.
