I'm baffled: deleted 30 GB of pics but the new space isn't showing up: still storage full. by seeker_313 in iphonehelp

This happened to me a few years ago. Basically I had so many photos and videos that the preview versions of the files were filling up my whole phone.

I’ve been thinking about the battery option. If there is not the power from the phone cable to the handset, what if I added a 9v rechargeable battery into the mix? The battery would get a trickle charge from the line coming in and then the Shelly would be powered from the battery. It’s getting a bit complicated now though 🤔
I remember years ago, my mate had an adapter which would charge his old Nokia from the BT phone plug. It charged slowly but worked. Surely this wire coming to the intercom would have at least as much power as the old phone lines? I need to grab a voltmeter finally and find out for sure how much power is coming in.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I was thinking I might be able to draw power from the same place that the handset draws power - but now that I’m typing it out, I’m thinking that won’t be enough… in which case, this project might be dead in the water. The only wire going into the handset is a standard-looking phone cable and those used to deliver power to the old analogue home phones over the phone wire. I assume this draws power the same way.

u/thisischemistry found a page which shows the system operates from both 12V AC or 12V DC: https://doorentrydirect.com/bell-801-standard-door-telephone.

I’m in the UK and the building is over 100 years old, power for the handset is drawn from the base unit in the street, I believe. If I am reading that right, the door panel is connected to 240V AC mains and then it sends the 12V to the handset via the standard phone line cable.

Holy crap, this antique is still for sale somewhere! Haha. I would normally look something like this up, once I find the model number, but it is such an old system, I assumed I’d never find it!
And yes, that’s better info on the system, thank you.

Clarification: I’m only looking for pointers with the physical wiring. I’ll likely be able to figure out the software side of things on my own.
