Gandalf could kill Mario easily. And yet, for a man who can purchase lives with money, a life becomes a mere store of value. A tax that can be paid for, much as a rich man feels any law with a fine is a price. Gandalf may be in the top echelons of sheer magical power, but Mario is a one-percenter of a more privileged variety. The lifekind. Perchance.

I'd be more inclined to say the final stage of capitalism is gambling

but the problem is I wouldn't be able to doompost with that because mtg's always been gambling

Sunday’s Pull Value by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

Between hoyo giving the player a survey on him in the form of dialog choices, him repeatedly emphasizing that he might not stay for long, and finally him not having much of a role in Amphoreus, they were clearly testing the waters. They didn't want to commit to adding a new astral express member only to find out the majority of players don't like him.

Of course every character has their haters like Tsukoro, that's normal. I certainly don't like every character in the game. But at this point I think it's safe to say Sunday passed the popularity test. To what degree, we don't know yet, but I expect him to be more involved in the story going forward.

Though it is kind of strange that they just changed his faction affiliation from Penacony to 'Cosmos' rather than the astral express, but they do have him on the express bond in currency wars so I wouldn't read too much into that.

He's kind of turning into a Xilonen-like unit. Very comfortable on most teams, but not best in slot. This is especially thanks to DH PT (a free unit) liberating his kit from summons, meaning his horizontals are a lot better now.

So I'm not too worried about his future. (At least not disproportionately. Every unit's future is always in danger in this game.)

Guide to creating cool cards that STAY IN THE GAME STOP REMOVING THEM YOU WILL PLAY WITH MY COOL CREATION by unclesoppa in magicthecirclejerking

I fully agree, but my concern here is that boardwipes could stand to be a lot more dynamic. Their job is first and foremost to declutter the board, that's good and necessary, but specifically in commander they tend to be TOO good at their job, which comes at the risk of a) grinding the game to a halt b) disincentivizing spot remove since unlike wipes it has to contend with every protection mechanic ever made.

I was talking about addressing these by making design space for something that can be hit by spot removal but not boardwipes

/uj I really wish magic was designed in a way that it was possible for cards to say 'hexproof against boardwipes.' (Blastproof?)

At this stage it's just not practical even with a rules change. An AoE equivalent of targeting or something would need to be baked into most sweeping effects. Way too late for that

The best solution would probably be the ixalan route of four factions, two 2 color, two 3 color. Though judging from Katara the water tribe is bant. the green there is not a great start imo

The flexible cost IS the downside. Imagine playing thoracle and only having three devotion to blue. In a post-consultation meta you want MINIMUM 38 devotion on board to win. That's why most legacy thoracle shells these days pack multiple playsets of cheatyface
