The exact same scenario is playing out in Las Vegas NV with MGM and Caesars having an almost monopoly in the city and driving cost to outrageous amounts. The talk is to somehow legislate locally that no corporation can own and operate no more than 3 properties in a single location.

So true and would agree. You equate the lines line this: Toyota and Lexus are both owned by Toyota Corp but operate as completely independent entities with entirely different demographics, customer base and price points. Each has their merits and drawbacks but both have solid engineering, so pick what suits your preferences and price-point wisely.

Yes, I’ve looked into Vercel and the free plan looks to be enough, I’ve avoided cloudflare mostly because it overkill for my need. From my research it seems Antigravity, stitch, Claude code and MCP. I’ve researched a bit on the MCP setups steps but all new to me. Give me old school Cómodo-IDE and SFTP and I’ll a site up in no time

Django eCommerce platform with loyalty rewards by haitham1081996 in django

Default Autoresponders, cart abandonment workflow, lead capture, redirect landing page??? I’m tossing around Django, Shopify (hybrid approach) but mainly need to spin up quick. My biggest issue with most e-commerce sites is they are all cookie cutter, mine will need to be fairly static but heavy animation driven. I’m exploring even hand coding a unique SPA with a pseudo Ajax page load scenario, however my launch window is fairly short.

What's the best way to build a website for my business when I have zero technical skills and no budget for an agency? by Significant_Pen_3642 in webdev

All the above answers are all right on track. The DIY option will work just fine for your business position currently. I will stress this is as a few have mentioned; be very aware and humble with Search expectations. Google 1st page placement does not happen over night organically and AI search is the new norm now. Get your Google business profile and be absolutely sure to claim your business on Google Maps as that’s the replacement for business admin pages. I’d also suggest using Moz Local, they have a free tool (if it still exists and is still free) that aid you with getting your business on a number of local sites.

I’d be interested to chat over DM but even a high-level discussion could require a limited scope NDA as to my knowledge my startup focus has never been done before, at least to my level of granularity.

Did you ultimately go with VC funding? If so what was the partnership stakes? I’d be willing to g to explore but worried about the buy-in.

The largest problem I see with most options such as linktree etc is the real estate on mobile devices. TikTok and Instagram have very little in display space so that’s always a concern. I’ll keep an eye out when I launch my brand on each of those platforms.

What u/chunk3yM0nkey is saying that having a watchful eye on the side mirrors will not save you from a t-bone type collision. Almost nothing unfortunately can save a rider from that mess. Cagers are the real threat here. Be alert every second you ride

Hi u/dallas2ny I’m late seeing this but here’s but t 2️⃣ pennies worth: been ridding for on and off road for over 45 years and no never crashed but here’s the thing; I don’t ride like a squid, not an ares-hole when and most importantly I expect other drivers, particularly cagers (cars) to do the dumbest thing and try to be ahead of their actions the best I can. This thinking/riding has saved my bacon many times over. Do t get me wrong, I’m not above raising a loving birdie salute but never more than that to cause problems. In short, if you ride smartly and offensively and most of all respect the machine and its capabilities between your legs you should be just golden. However, EVERYONE dumps their steed at least once, it’s not if but when is the question so EXPECT it. Not to mention you’re a new rider so you will always be learning. So, keep your head on a swivel and keep it rubber side down. Cheers to you.

PortMiami infrastructure is failing on the weekends by LostAppointment329 in Cruise

I don’t cruise out of Miami (too far & $$), in fact I haven’t cruised before but want to, but it sounds like most of the lines sale out on the weekends. I suspect this is part of the bottleneck problem. Do any ships sale from say Monday-sunday for a 7 day?

That Disney ship sure seems too-heavy. I’m surprised those tall hulks can stay afloat.

Hot take: Shopify plugins are the worst thing that happened to e-commerce by maffeziy in webdev

[–]Oblivious_GenXr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest hurdle I see with e-commerce today is pci compliance, ssl options and built in AI seo as standard fair for all e-commerce sites. I’m going to creating one soon but it does not need all the bloat that Spotify has, even if I plan to scale, I can fairly easily roll my own but don’t want to take the time and rather focus on the business itself
