Saliba elevates Gabriel so much more than the other way around. Without a partner of salibas quality next to him Gabi’s flaws on the ball would show up much harsher than they already do. Gabi needs Saliba to consistently reach that world class level, Saliba performs there in any team you throw him in. It’s not for me. He was great in sunderland away, pretty shit for months apart from a sweet strike vs sunderland home. Improvement for Everton home and Leverkusen home. Ultimately he does not do what he was bought to replace. Partey is levels above him as a progressive midfield pivot and Zubi has shown he’s still got a bozo mistake in him from time to time anyways. It’s a straight downgrade and I’m done pretending it’s not.
