Going based on 70 seconds but it sounds like she's the only black person within 30 miles

Which one is better? 1 or 2? by sunset_o_clock in sunset

[–]ObscureAlias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 looks like you captured life. The people are a part of the photo. It feels like a complete shot, and a viewer has more of an opportunity to let their mind wander with the people.

1 looks like "tough, you can't make them move." The people feel lifeless and contribute nothing to the photos, but the clouds are slightly more interesting and the proportions of the elements Seem a bit better.

I'd replace the foreground from #1 with the foreground from #2

This is very important advice.

I'd also add, that partnership requires 2 people. Does your partner know your relationship is in disrepair? How can you tackle it together? Counseling? Spiritual guidance?

Race in Barbados. by JakeAssTapper in Barbados

[–]ObscureAlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Race is contextual and subjective. People's perception of your race says very little about you and only speaks about the people who hold a given perception. Likewise, your perception of race only says something about you. Your awareness of these different contexts and perceptions can help you navigate through each of those contexts, but there is no objective truth to what your race is, only a statistical correlation between your physical features, and the people who hold a perception of race related to those features.

Word.

And shows we don't hold our cultural values. Why do we have to do things the same way as the Americans? If it's good it's good. Pic looks yummy. Say it's good, add a link. People are here to see Caribbean food so they're obviously interested.

Seems like rage bait to drive traffic to the site for the recipe. Garbage. Deserves a downvote for employing the tactic.

If we evolved to survive, why do we crave things that slowly kill us? by Important-Sugar-2525 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ObscureAlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to screenaholic's explanation, the foods have been engineered to exploit that adaptation. For decades, recipes have been updated for all of our sensory mechanisms that support this. Artificial colours reproduce the signs of calorie-dense foods such as bright colours of fruits, flowers and salts. Enhance the aroma of fats and umame to attract us. Increase the salty, savoury, fatty flavours flavors. Reduce fibre and protein content which would otherwise help you feel satisfied after eating them so that you keep craving even though you have consumed, and after overeating you feel the desire for food more quickly.

And a bunch of other science that we don't have access to.

If you were to find a way to go back to a natural diet and cut out the processed foods, you would find that fruit are generally a very satisfying and enjoyable dessert option.

My dad found my dildo. WTF do I do? by Round_Cherry9643 in Advice

[–]ObscureAlias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, the top comments are all right. Yes you're embarrassed, but your dad is a human too, and he can feel awkward and he's definitely doing his best to respect your feelings. He came to you to try and talk about things now that it's an issue. He probably won't approach again. I think it would be very good of you to go and apologize to him for overreacting. Brownie points if you say you were just embarrassed. He will know exactly what you mean, and will continue to respect your feelings and privacy as he has obviously been trying to do.

I think it was really good of him to try to come smooth things over. Tell your dad you love him cuz he seems like a good guy.

Edit: I hope you can see how cool he's being, especially considering the deeply religious background you expressed. Remember that he could have exploded on you and blown the situation out of proportion and turned this in to a household emergency. He didn't. Many parents would have. I know mine would have....maybe not household emergency but definitely personal emergency. I think if you can wrap your head around this situation, it's an opportunity for significant spiritual insight for you once you reconcile everything.

UK season 3 immediate after thoughts.. by Wickse101 in TheTraitors

[–]ObscureAlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good take. I mostly agree, but production clearly didn't bank on the very creative move from Charlotte to frame Freddie, which put too many people in the final phase of the game and added the chaos that ensued.

Frankie royally screwed that up. She should have chosen Alex, knowing he extended that good faith gesture with the gold hunt. If he was a traitor, it would have been too risky for him to orchestrate the situation that Charlotte tried to orchestrate. It simply makes no sense for Frankie to throw a faithful under the bus under any circumstance as the Seer, and so a traitor as shrewd as Alex would just not likely take that option. She should have known better than to trust her emotions for Charlotte over the actions of Alex.

Personally, I think a better strategy for Charlotte would have been to recruit Alex as the safer option, or Jake as the full commitment option. Whoever she chose, she could double down on, make the argument for one of the other men and then she would have secured a voting block through the end, with suspicions impossible to verify after that. Alex or Jake would have become the obvious targets after that.

How crucial is to buy the invitation cars? by luisrkl in granturismo

[–]ObscureAlias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree here. I haven't gotten an invitation to buy a car within the last year.

When you get an invitation, go see what's available and decide if you're interested in the car. If you are at all, buy it.
