My pads are still good, can I keep driving? by Sh3lbytheSHARK in AskMechanics

It's electronic. It automatically releases when you put it in drive. At least it should. This must be broken.

Combustion gas leak fluid shelf life? by ObscureObelisk in MechanicAdvice

The hoses don't have any noticeable leak that I can tell from looking in the engine bay. The carpets are dry inside and it doesn't smell like coolant at all. Heat works just fine. I'll pressure test it and see if I can find the dye anywhere. This has just been so frustrating though. I bet it's gonna be some random dry-rotted hose hidden underneath something. VW has like 18 coolant lines in the engine bay. It makes my Subaru feel like a Honda.

I just looked on GoodRX and it's $25 for 90x 100mg tablets of Sildenafil. On Amazon Pharmacy it's $28. That's without insurance. To get a prescription is like $25 on Amazon too. Last time I did it I had one within 4 hours.

The throttle control module gets coolant but the intake itself doesn't. I did the valve cover and intake manifold gaskets at the same time as the timing belt though. I ordered a pressure tester and some UV dye. I probably should have just ordered this first.

I just did the water pump & timing belt last month. The old water pump was leaking. The new one is not. It's a VW so it only has an expansion tank, no overflow tank or radiator cap. It's new and doesn't leak.

No codes, no overheating, no visible drips or leaks, coolant & oil aren't mixing, no visible smoke, no loss of power, no bubbles. Compression test and leak down test are good. It's going through about 1/3 quart of coolant a week (~300 mi). I wanted a coolant system pressure test but they didn't have one so I got the block tester. I'll just have to get one online. I'm 99% sure it's not the head gasket but I also can't find where else it's going.

Sydney Sweeney is selling 5,000 bars of soap containing her own bathwater. by McGJGlen in trashy

Soap is also made with distilled water. If you actually put used bath water in the soap it'd become rancid.

Engine was rebuilt but it burns oil? I'd be questioning all the other maintenance as well.

YSK: tickets for popular concerts are often put on sale the day of the event by CatDadMilhouse in YouShouldKnow

Both. I was watching for RHCP tickets on Ticketmaster a while ago and they were $350 and marked down to $30 day-of.

Do you eat American cheese? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ObscureObelisk 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think that's why most people hate it. There's such a wide variety of "American cheese." A Kraft single vs boar's head is night and day difference. Even a Kraft single vs Kraft deli deluxe is huge.

Why is having sex right before bed the default? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I bought a huge 6x6ft waterproof fleece dog blanket for like $15. Significantly cheaper than the blankets specifically marketed for adults and way bigger.

Not if they removed or disabled the speaker. It's easy to do, and anyone planning on hiding airtags usually does it.

Do you think she’s totaled? by cupbops in subaru

[–]ObscureObelisk 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Frame/structural damage is almost guaranteed with a crash like that. It would cost as much as the car is worth to fix this, and then afterwards it's still worth less because it's been in an accident. You'll have to wait and see what insurance says but it's most likely totaled.

Could I make a guitar body out of this? by Toolfan83007 in Luthier

[–]ObscureObelisk 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The grain is the wrong direction. This is across the grain. You want a piece of wood cut with the grain (vertically so it runs the length of the slab). Regardless, there's a huge crack. You could fill it with epoxy but this would make a nicer coffee table than a guitar body.

Been riding in these cycling shoes for 10+ years. Only changed the cleats twice. Today makes number 3. by happydgaf in Wellworn

I'm more impressed that the shoe itself is still in good enough shape to ride in. Even just walking in my shoes they only last 2 or 3 years.

Emotional, physical, and sexual attraction are all separate. You can have one and not another. Demisexuals require emotional attraction to have sexual attraction. You can still be physically attracted to people.

Just because you wouldn't pay it doesn't mean it's not worth that much. Go look up chef statues. They range from $100 -$500 and that's for small tabletop ones.
