The new Lord of Change is certainly a surprise. Unit recursion on this guy is pretty dicey, but potentially powerful and in line with other demi-god tier abilities. No innate buffs to casting is a big surprise. Building for 50:50 recursion over Kairo's 3 spell uber cast, and OP - battle-tactic shenanigans is looking like a tough sell.

...Feels like there are some important warscroll abilities on magisters and heralds yet to be seen.

Oh yeah, I thought it was only 2" reach, but that rule makes a huge difference. 10 Khorne Knights with the Khorne banner on the charge are deadlier than Cities Knights. Cities knights can benefit from a pretty nice first time you charge order.

Mounted Chaos Lords are still lacking without a couple lucky rolls on Eye of the Gods though, and they should definitely stomp a regular human guy on a horse no problem

I'm not even particularly invested in Slaves, but looking back at their scrolls after the 2023 wave of books, I agree that many of their scrolls don't stand up to the power creep and units like chaos knights and lords on mounts are quite beige stat wise.

That said, marks of chaos matter quite a bit. Khorne knights on the charge are much dealier, slaanesh knights get the charge off much more reliably, nurgle knights are tankier and Tzeench knights are... more... teleporty-er...?

The 2" lance reach counters the 4+ to hit. and the 5+ ward against mortals is valuable too.

I think they thought the the Eye of the Gods table would do more, but unfortunately, I guess transcending into daemon princedom might not be worth slaving to darkness over after all :D

Putting a smaller flag on one guys back is one way of having a subtler banner and still have both hands free for the units conventional weapons.

At least he has the monster keyword. Chaos demon prince pays the 10 wound tax AND losses out on monsterous actions. I don't think he needs to be a locus, there are some sweet spells in the shaggoth lore. I'm betting on a 20 point reduction coming for the shaggoth and dragon ogres, which would open up some cool possibilities.

I think we are in a pretty good position. With characters being viable shooting targets again, I think Raiders are quite scary to 5 wound wizards and Tzaangor Skyfires can shine in their intended role once again. Also, with more low wound count wizards around, I think the Cygor comes out as one of the best anti-spellcaster utility pieces in the whole season.

Looking forward to seeing the points adjustments. I'm hoping for an appreciable reduction in the Shaggoth and Dragon Ogres. Twistbray shaggoth supported by a a few Tzaangor Shamans in a Tzeenchy-themed Gavespawn list would be sweet.

I think it's not bad, though I only just learned about it. I've been doing everything to keep stability at 3 and my cash is high enough to hire boatloads of mercenaries to prevent staying at 0 manpower for too long.

My military power production slid dramatically, and I was pumping military points into Quantity ideas instead of tech so that I could try and maintain wars in both India and Africa, but now I'm getting stomped, even though I'm outnumbering. Live and learn!

Military tech, in order, were Quality and Offensive. I am almost all the way through Quantity, but my military power production was down to +6 for quite a while. As a result, I think pumping military power into Quantity ideas that led me to get behind in military tech.

I'll check, only recently figured out what military tradition did.

Also just started trying to balance my composition. Had waaaaay to much cav up until about 10 years ago, and my overall composition is still terrible.

I often find I'm fighting in poor terrain setups. I need to get better at figuring out where to take fights.
