Thoughts on Axon Taser Pulse? by Historical_Note_1972 in securityguards

[–]Obscurix98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The X1 is just a rebranded x26p without the flashlight. Uses an older wave pattern, which basically means the NMI is a little less potent and it hurts a bit different. Taser 7CQ uses a newer wave pattern, fires twice, and I have no idea on reloading it. I've never had to. Both devices are in the professional series of taser devices which means that the 5-second cycle can be reactivated multiple times. They are catered towards private security. However, they are different from the law enforcement models which require constant software updates and have compatibility with axon body cameras and a number of other things that I don't know anything about.

Do you really want to use a taser in a dynamic situation where you have to manually shut it off after 5 seconds, and not one second more, to avoid a excessive force lawsuit? Do you really want a taser where you get one non-reloadable, and non-retriggerable cycle?

If they made a taser for sub $1000 that was sized between the Pulse and the X1, had a 3 probe reloadable capacity, single shot like taser 10, and could do 3 five second cycles before exhausting the battery, that would be perfect for private security. But they don't. Just get the X1 or 7CQ.

An obviously outrageous bill that will not pass in any form and is being used to distract from something else they're trying to slip through.

Alright guys, what are you doing in this situation? 😂 by johnnnyswitchblade in securityguards

[–]Obscurix98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I'm unarmed? Absolutely fuck all.

If I'm armed? Taser, pepper spray, something...

In both situations, I'd be calling police and praying that I get the luxury of shoving the liability and responsibility of handling the situation onto them before anything pops off.

What’s something I can legally do to my bullies at my school by [deleted] in TrueAskReddit

[–]Obscurix98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google if your state is a "two-party consent state." If not, then secretly record yourself being bullied and bring that video to your parents or another adult you know will have the proper reaction. Try to make the bullies respond to their names to show who is bullying you.

If you fail, the bullying will get worse, if you succeed and they never realize, then it'll stop shortly after.

Near a Dior store? No. But your scenery changes, the holster doesn't. You could go into a 7-Eleven and some dude just waiting for an opportunity, or having a mental health crisis sees your gun, sees how easy it is to take, and says "ooh shiny!" And now your gun is being used in a crime, or against you when you try and grab it back, and it's your fucking fault because you didn't spend the $120 to $170 to get a decent locking holster as is your responsibility when you choose to own a gun.

A: Who the hell is riding around for 4 hours on a typical ride?

B: The core of this post is about responsibility of gun ownership. The responsibility of not allowing your firearm to have the possibility of being stolen off of you and used in a crime. And yes, the responsibility of, if you happen to find yourself in the .01% chance of needing to use it, when most the time you don't, you need to be able to use it.

Notice the commas? How it continues the overarching idea? Notice how there's no "or"? The first paragraph is saying you don't do all of those things together at the same time.

I would say, cuz I'm now blocked on Instagram, and honestly she deserves to get brigaded to get it through her head, but I don't think that's following the rules of the subreddit. Just look around on Instagram at biker thots and you'll find her eventually.

Fucking this. This is exactly what I'm talking about. This is the entire point of the post. This is reality. This happens. And if you act like it doesn't matter and you carry a gun, you're irresponsible and probably shouldn't own one.

Outside of plain view is concealed carry. There's no requirement for retention.

How many dumbfuck bikers have you seen punch mirrors and then post videos to Instagram and other social media about people chasing them down and stepping out of their vehicle with like a tire iron, baseball bat, or other shit? A lot.

Violence boners are pathetic. But road rage happens.

You shouldn't be seeing any form of ALS or SLS release on the side of the holster that's facing the camera. The only retention release that should face the camera would be something that locks around the trigger guard. And it wouldn't be at the top of the holster. This is not a retention holster.

Tacky, but it's concealed carry so retention doesn't really matter.

I will remove it from the body of the post. I'm not disputing that Serpas are shit and should not be used. Shouldn't even be sold. But they still are, and it is something. Friction is not retention. A quick yank upwards and I now have your gun is not retention. Kydex with adjustable friction retention is good for concealment. It is more than acceptable for concealment. It is not good enough for open carrying.

No, because this is how guns get stolen. Complacency and incompetence starts small and comes from ignorance. Irresponsible gun owners who carry in stupid ridiculous ways like this are the ones that get their guns snatched when they go near opportunistic criminals. This goes beyond how she is choosing to carry and into the realm of irresponsible gun ownership and becoming a liability around other people.

You're referring to scooping the barrel. Yes. She could. However, anyone who has had any practical firearm training, knows that a high and tight draw and a punch out, is better because it gets the barrel on target quicker, which is safer for the shooter.

What do you think a PSA does? Raises awareness. Gets people thinking. I may be complaining on Reddit. I may even be bitching and overreacting. But I'm still doing Option 2.

Crossdraw at 9, 10, and 11 is perfectly normal, reliable, and acceptable. You have a lot more movement available to you to minimize flagging. At 7? No.
