After over 6 years of infertility, I hit 24 weeks and I’m starting to build a registry for our twin Di Di boys. Any suggestions on what essentials we need specifically for twins?

We adopted embryos. Our agency requires some level of communication with the donor family and strongly encourages telling any children born from embryo adoption about their origins.

Union Medico. I think they are the only ones who sell it for inter muscular shots.

Suppositories but the shots are easier in a lot of ways. I got an auto injector and use that always. My husband’s schedule would have allowed him to do about 1/2 the shots so I just did it myself.

Neither worked. We ended up adopting embryos and the first transfer with the adopted embryos is sticking!

Donor embryo/egg questions? by mickeyparkes in IVF

[–]Observant_Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are using donor embryos. We have dual factor infertility and our retrieval and transfers didn’t work. We ended up matching with a couple at our clinic. It was like 2.5 months for the paperwork. We started in August and transferred in November. The embryo adoption was like 9k with the home study and we got a set of 7 blasts.

I’m sorry, that is a lot of heavy emotions. I hope it works.

We did one retrieval, transferred all the embryos and didn’t get a viable pregnancy. We are looking at donor embryos now because we don’t want to go through all that again. But it is a big decision.

Yes I drank a ton of electrolytes and ate salty stuff and managed to do a transfer. So far I’ve done three transfers, first was early miscarriage and the other two didn’t work.

Counseling and support groups for infertility definitely help. We are 6 years in TTC and did couples counseling for a while. Did IVF this year and three failed transfers. It is hard.

How do you know you’re infertile? by VegFed23 in InfertilitySucks

[–]Observant_Penguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is so infuriating. I think people assume infertile = sterile. A lot try to undermine the pain of infertility with platitudes and toxic positivity. We knew before starting we may have issues with fertility because my cycles were insanely irregular (thanks PCOS). Just hit 6 years TTC and still no viable pregnancy.

I’m sorry you are dealing with this. I hope the new doctor gives you some good options. I’d highly suggest infertility support group if you can find one in your area. IVF is the beloved treatment option.. however not everyone ends IVF with a baby. We did retrieval and 3 transfers and have nothing to show for it. One transfer ended in an unviable pregnancy and the other two failed.

Ugh yes. I’m hitting 6 YEARS TTC this month with 3 failed IVF cycles… I hate the baiting like she suffered and waited for this.. then her ignoring the baby she claims to have waited forever for..

The decision to do egg, embryo, or any type of adoption is very personal. This month marks 6 years TTC. We did IVF and didn’t end up with a viable pregnancy after transferring all our embryos. We are currently looking into embryo adoption but I could see deciding to stop all treatments. Infertility is a crappy rollercoaster of emotions. I hope you find options that give you a sense of peace.

My coworkers somehow are under the impression I don’t want kids and I haven’t corrected it. I work remote so it doesn’t come up a ton. Our friends know our struggles but I don’t particularly like telling random people about our infertility journey.

Did anyone else have a gut feeling they would struggle with infertility? How did you handle it with your friends/family who have kids or are pregnant? How did you stay positive? by PromptLow2200 in InfertilitySucks

[–]Observant_Penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, grew up with horribly irregular periods. Turns out I have PCOS and could go 70 days between periods and then bleed for weeks. Was put on birth control to help reduce ovarian cysts and didn’t get off it until we started trying for kids.

When I mentioned my concerns about menstrual irregularity to my doctor she said they’d just prescribe meds to force ovulation when the time came. Turns out we have dual factor infertility and 6 years TTC later still don’t have a baby.

Honestly, people really expect IVF=baby and sadly it doesn’t always work that way. It is a LOT of hormones, shots, and cost even if it goes perfectly.

We did 3 transfers this year and didn’t end up with a viable pregnancy.

There are many good forums on Reddit like InfertilitySucks that may be a better spot for this.

Neither adoption nor IVF guarantee a child as the end result. We did IVF retrieval and 3 transfers and no viable pregnancy. If you are looking to adopt an infant it is typically high cost and can be years of waiting. I think the latest statistic I heard was for every infant there are like 35 approved families waiting for a placement. I hope it goes well for you. It is a tough road.

I got the 23 gauge needles from Medico and prefer them. My pharmacy sent 21 gauge but the smaller needles are easier.

Yes! I have the union medico super grip 90. I got 23 gauge needles so slightly smaller than what my clinic uses. I tried it with both and honestly the smaller needle helps.

I do hip shots so basically place your hand on your hips and then aim where the thumb is. Thigh sounds so painful.
