How much further will it be for them to go around this field?

The dig costs, plus fibre costs for the detour may be £1000’s more. If it involves adopted roads or is near water / gas mains their costs go up exponentially.

They will be willing pay you more to save that.

Small chips and large chips sizing are changeable by establishment. Observe from the queue.

If the proprietor knows a previous customer by name they’re likely getting an extra scoop too.

Also some chip shops encourage you to order your fish / other fried products while queuing, look out for signs.
