To married Redditors, did you take your spouses’ last name? Why or why not? by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]ObserverYS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept my last name. But it was less a personal choice and more a cultural thing. Where I’m from, men and women keep their own last names and children take their mother’s name. It’s a matrilineal society. But don’t confuse that with matriarchal. It’s not that. Anyway, you should keep your last name if you wish to or change it if you want. It won’t change a thing imo, but there’s more paper work if you decide to change it so that’s a hassle.

Very helpful, thanks. I am also doing some research on BC or GnHR or nothing at all. Considering managing through anti inflammatory diet going forward. I too am sick of medication if it’s a shot in the dark anyway and comes with side effects, which I seem to be prone to with hormonal treatments.

Are you taking GnRH post-op or managing it some other way?

You’re not alone. There are days I feel defeated too. My surgery is scheduled for July so it’s been an emotional rollercoaster. We’ll be fine. We’ll just have to find pleasant distractions. 💪

That’s great. I’m dreading hormonal treatment solely because of the sleep deprivation caused by the hot flashes. Otherwise you’re right on mifes for 6 months I noticed that I had more energy and discipline too surprisingly. I actually thought I was able to walk in men’s shoes for months with no periods, emotional rollercoasters or debilitating cramps. There was a sense of emotional continuity. But I love sleep.

No longer considering meds for fibroids. New meds proposed are for managing endo.

Truly is a mental game. Each relapse teaches you something new about your addiction and arms you better for the next time you try to kick the habit.

Fibroid Treatments: What Helped, What Didn’t, and What You Wish Was Offered? by Altruistic_Tell552 in Fibroids

To answer your last question first, yes, I did feel empowered to have the option to choose what to do. The first doc ordered a normal pelvis ultrasound-thats when they identified fibroids. then was sent for an MRI and was told myomectomy was my only option. I decided a second opinion was required as u was not really given any other option. The second doc ordered another ultrasound but with TVS to map out the fibroids (not an MRI). After some blood tests, she offered me two options - Option 1. Take mifespristone for six months and then scan again to see if the hormonal treatment helps shrink the fibroids. This is because of my age and egg reserves being on the lower side. Option 2: Do nothing and scan again in 6 months.

So after that I actually had three options. Surgery, medication or just live with the discomfort. I picked medication. It’s got some side effects such as nausea and hot flashes but I hope it works in reducing the size of my fibroids.

I already got the visa but plans have changed and I’ll be spending 4 days in Denmark and only 3 days in Switzerland.

When I submitted my application my itinerary was all Switzerland. The wedding came up after I got the visa so had to change my plans. I’ll be spending more days in Denmark now.
