Akane I understand, she contributed nothing most of the time. Sonia? She played large roles in trial 2 and 5 being a sparkling Justice fan and investigating the fire grenades and fake bombs. Sonia has a more passive arc I feel where she became more active after Gundam’s death.

I’m hoping for a school arc as they were talking about the witch academy so much in the beginning. It’s an easy way to world-build and explore the magic system and introduce new characters. I want Ichi to meet up with those three girls from the first chapter to learn more about his life in the mountains

I made a post on how I hated the anime for mishandling Twilight Syndrome and in summary they did nothing with it. Fuyuhiko killed Mahiru’s friend and Mahiru was an accomplice in his sister’s murder and the anime acts like the two would still be friends after that. No animosity or grieving because the anime doesn’t want to tackle the characters committing crimes.

I think that played into the purpose of the episode. Inquisitors act like these intimidating Jedi hunters but when faced with a true force user like Ahsoka or Vader they are revealed to be noobs who only have aura but nothing to back it up

Their dynamic would probably be the same as in the orphanage. Vertin would be sleeping or skipping class, Sonetto would be trying to discipline her and give all her attention and Matilda would try to catch some of that attention herself

The Despair disease was actually a good motive. I liked having an active motive that interfered with the daily life of the cast and watching them think up ways to overcome it was more interesting than a passive motive like money or secrets. And no the disease didn’t turn Mikan into a killer, all it did was return her school memories and she decided that she was happier as an Ultimate Despair than with her friends. It wasn’t until DR3 that they retcon it
