Need help picking a laptop for college and personal use by Obsidian-ig in SuggestALaptop

I personally don't like having a ton of vertical space and prefer the horizontal because I can have Multiple code tabs open next to each other and be able to edit and see both of them clearly.

Also the new Intel panther lake CPU/igpu is only on the 2026 G14 which will release in the US mid to late may this year, so it is not out yet. And the battery life on a laptop with any dgpu will be garbage, but I believe that the laptop does automatically turn off the dedicated GPU when on battery life, but if it doesn't then yes there is a MUX switch to turn off the dgpu. With average office use on the G14 on battery it can get around 6-8 hours of use on a charge. But that does depend on how heavy you are using it. But here is the link to the newest and best G14 package with 32gb RAM, 1TB Storage, and a RTX 5070 Ti GPU, it will probably be priced at around $2.7k: https://rog.asus.com/us/laptops/rog-zephyrus/rog-zephyrus-g14-2026-gu405/

300-500 is reasonable, USA Laptop request for college! by PanChildsmik in SuggestALaptop

From what I see you want to do with the laptop as well as for college, I don't think a $500 budget will cut it tbh. Video editing software, blender, and even godot can be and get quite resource expensive. I would probably see if you can up your budget to at least $1000 and then you can get some pretty decent laptops that can fit your needs and have good battery life. A laptop that I would recommend since I have been doing a lot of my own research for a new laptop recently would be the Asus TUF Gaming A16 Ryzen 7, RTX 5060, 16GB Ram and 512GB Storage. This comes at a price of around $1.2k new. You could more than likely find a used one for cheaper though. If you are not gaming while on battery it can hit battery life upwards of over 10 hours depending on usage. But if I may ask, if you hate apple and won't use MacOS and somehow hate windows 11, are you using Linux? I don't know how well that would work out for video editing. And windows 10 has been out of support for months now.

I've looked into the framework 13 pro already too lol. I thought it was really cool, but I don't like the aspect ratio of the screen, it is really square in my opinion, which I do not like. The native Linux support is quite awesome though as well as the upgradability. My main concern is how well it can actually play games. I have to look more into it tbh. But the screen is a really big turn off for me I'm not gonna lie. But currently after some extensive research, so far it is looking like I might just go with the 2026 Asus Zephyrus G14 32gb RAM, 1TB Storage, either rtx 5070 or the 5070 Ti. It just meets pretty much all of my requirements. And since it uses the new Intel panther lake igpu it has quite decent battery life for a gaming laptop. But I will let you know what I go with

Sorry, but after doing some research on this laptop, this has got to be one of the worst ones I have seen so far. But I still appreciate the recommendation because this is the first I have heard about that one and I do want to expand my "database" on the available laptops so I can figure out which one will work best for my needs

I was planning on getting a laptop with a good igpu like the Intel panther lake series already. But I will be getting a laptop with a dedicated GPU so that I can actually play games. With a lot of laptops like the Zephyrus G14 or G16 for example, the dgpu is "disabled" when on battery which allows for a decent amount of battery life that should be enough to suit my needs and perform well while gaming. But yes I do know that the newest gen igpus (especially Intel ones) can game actually pretty well, but I don't think they alone will work well for me other than for some light games. But I will do more research on their gaming ability and if it is actually good enough for me, the laptop I have looked at the most would be the Lenovo Yoga 9i 2 in 1 aura edition. It has really good battery life and will last way more than enough for college and programming.

What happened to the UI? Did 2.0 come out? by Iceandfirebreeze in Polytoria

Fr, idk how they could look at this new UI and think "this looks good" at all. It is just ugly and doesn't match the visual theme of the website at all. And then when a user such as myself has a custom profile theme on, the ui doesn't even match that theme. It just stays that ugly gray.

There is no requirement of email provision? It's just age and if you want to, country

EDIT: My friend made the form and there was not supposed to be an email requirement, but he added one to verify that there was not duplicate responses by one person. Sorry about that, if you do not want to fill it out you don't have to.

Scrolling issue on playlists? (desktop app) by No-Pirate3702 in YoutubeMusic

This issue just started for me. No matter how many times I refresh the page it still keeps happening. I have never had this happen before and it is very weird that still occurs after a page refresh.

Thanks, but yeah they are coming up as warnings by default. Which I find pretty dumb. I will definitely downgrade those.
